Pairwise Plants Services, Inc seeks Managers, Controlled Environment in Durham, NC.

Job Duties:

• Create and manage $1.2MM budget with other scientific leaders across numerous projects and pipeline priorities. [BC1]

• Deliver stable environments in the greenhouses and growth chambers suitable for plant regeneration, trait testing, and life cycle management for ~12 diverse crops.

• Manage (Senior) Research Associates in the Controlled Environment Team to successfully execute activities, deliver innovations, and improve team morale while operating at 90-100% capacity.

• Plan and/or conduct experiments and implement results to improve growth conditions, optimize growth, plant regeneration, and seed production for various crops in the controlled environment.

• Collaborate across multifunctional teams to develop insights, improve R&D pipeline efficiency, and drive the innovation culture.

• Coordinate with Laboratory and Facilities Operations for timely supplies orders/deliveries and improve working facilities to meet the needs of the employees and company.

• Adhere to USDA regulatory permits.

• Lead tours of investors, government officials, and other visitors through Controlled Environment spaces.

Minimum Requirements:

Requires a Master’s degree in Horticulture, Plant Science, Agronomy, Plant Physiology, Botany, or related field. Plus 3 years of experience.

Special Requirements: Experience must include:

1. 3 years of experience with scientific leadership in new concepts and executing new projects on realistic timelines.
2. 3 years of experience in collaboration and communication.
3. 3 years of experience in continual learning mindset to employ new technologies on novel crops.
4. 3 years of experience in people leadership.
5. 3 years of experience with budgeting and prioritization of spending.
6. 3 years of experience with hardware and software systems: Ensure facilities are fully operational.
7. 3 years of experience with Plant growth optimization: Rapidly cycle diverse crops through controlled environments.
