GENERAL SUMMARY:

JOB DESCRIPTION
collaborates with students, faculty, and staff to create a campus environment that is usable, equitable, sustainable, and inclusive of all members of the Paine College community. If students encounter academic, physical, technological, or other barriers on campus, the Disability Services Coordinator collaborates with the student to find creative solutions and reasonable accommodations.
Contribute to the quality of students learning experience and academic success by transitioning students to a campus environment and meeting academic resource needs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for the planning, coordination, and implementation of accessibility services for students with physical, cognitive, health, attention, psychological, and other impairments or disabilities as mandated by Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, and the federal and state laws to ensure reasonable accommodations for students in post-secondary settings.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education
-Master’s Degree in Special Education, Education Rehabilitation, Social Work, Counseling, or related field and/or equivalent combination of education and experience
· Preferred: Specialized Training in Learning Disabilities; Licensure in Social Work, Mental Health Clinician;
· Bilingual is a plus.
Experience
· Required Experience: Three or more years of job-related experience working with physical, cognitive, academic, and psychological disabilities.
· Knowledge of ADA, ADAAA, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, the Fair Housing Act, other state and federal laws, and related standards. Knowledge of physical, medical, psychological, sensory, and learning disabilities. Knowledge of reasonable accommodations for specific disabilities.
· Knowledge of counseling and advising techniques.
· Knowledge of adaptive equipment and technology.
· Ability to communicate effectively with students, faculty, and staff.
· Strong interpersonal, organizational, customer service skills, and ability to multi-task
· Experience in higher education is desirable.
· Experience working with diverse populations.
· Experiencing using Microsoft Office Suite.
