Description

The Joint Venture Controller will perform the accounting functions of our joint ventures daily, reporting financial information accurately and on a timely basis. In addition, this position will collect, monitor, and study financial data in detail to be included in reports distributed to Executive Management and Owners. This position should have the ability to interact with a variety of staff at all levels, property management accounting departments and staff in an ever-changing environment, remaining flexible, resourceful, proactive, and efficient with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality. 

This position will provide accounting, analysis, and financial support to our owners, and perform various accounting tasks to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.

Essential Functions

  • Ensure all balance sheet accounts are reconciled monthly. 
  • Work with teams to automate processes and reports for more efficient workflow.
  • Review monthly interest statements, code and book/approve accruals as needed and ensure all statements with payments due are made in a timely manner.
  • Liaison with Property Management regarding policies, reconciling, adjustments, etc. 
  • Work with the Property Management team to ensure timely payments and receipts.
  • Review monthly billing for PAM services.
  • Work with Financial Analyst and teams on cash flows for operating entities.
  • Work with owners on distributions, capital calls, questions, etc. 
  • Approve general/adjusting journal entries as needed.
  • Approve accounts payable invoices and payments.
  • Work with management, auditors, and tax preparers for the preparation of tax returns and audit material.
  • Maintain and prepare reports and work on special projects as requested.
  • Manage the books and prepare financials for all joint venture entities.
  • Manage and setup entity bank accounts.
  • Assist in the formation of new entities, including obtaining owner signatures on formation documents.
  • Understand loan terms and reporting requirements.
  • Enter loan closing statements.
  • Reconcile project bank loans and monitor bank draws.
  • Work with the project team to assure timely payments and receipts.
  • Elevate awareness of financial implications that can be addressed or reversed.
  • Assist with ad hoc, and/or specialized reporting requested by owners.

Requirements

  • 5 years of prior Controller experience required.
  • Previous experience working in Real Estate Development/Construction and managing multiple entities.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred.
  • General knowledge of Sage, Intacct and Procore is preferred.
  • Familiar with CSI Master Format cost coding.
  • Good understanding of accounting terminology and functions including preparing, entering, and understanding journal entries.
  • Able to work proficiently in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook programs.
  • Excellent organization, oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to take direction, meet timelines and work on a multitude of projects at one time.
  • Adaptable to fast paced work environment with repetitive and monotonous projects.
  • Strong work ethic with a high level of integrity both in and out of the work environment.
  • Ability to work extended hours as needed.

 
Salary: $100,000 - $125,000 DOE
