The Basics:

This is your chance to live the paddling lifestyle. Paddle NC, North Carolina's premier coastal paddling company, is looking for rental agent/guides for 2022. We are looking for outdoorsy, detail oriented, positive, energetic, people with a great work ethic. The position will go until the end until November. The position starts at $10 an hour, with tips, which can be considerable.

-The position is part-time to start and will go full time at the end of May.

-All staff will work on both rentals and tours and one day at our Fort Fisher beach equipment rental location. Days are broken down into morning and afternoon shifts so that one person is not working rentals all day or spending all day doing tours.

-Talking about and explaining the natural and local history is an integral part of the Paddle NC tour experience. Applicants should have a general knowledge of both and want to increase this knowledge as part of the position.

-Guides and rental agents are our frontline staff members, so maintaining an upbeat and pleasant attitude is required. This skill is also imperative when handling on the spot situations pertaining to guests and environmental issues, not to mention we like to have fun and want all of our team to have fun too.

-Paddle NC is rapidly growing, enabling our staff to get in on the ground level. This also requires good organization skills, and the ability to take care of and have knowledge of the gear. Keeping up with the industry is encouraged to maintain knowledge of the sport, encompassing everything from vessel design to growing trends.

--Guiding experience is not necessary but paddling experience is.

-Since we are an outdoor recreation company it is imperative to be physically fit and able to spend long hours outdoors in any kind of weather including the heat, cold and wet. Many of our boats weigh between 50-60 LBS and all staff is required to lift them and move them on and off racks throughout the day.

-Reliable transportation is a must.

-We will have a set schedule, but at times our staff may need to help fill in for large groups and absent team members.

-Paddle NC maintains a family like atmosphere so it is important to have a positive attitude and work well with others. We love what we do and share a passion for paddling, and we want to pass that along to our guests.

-Paddle NC is a professional paddling agency, and we reflect that in our training. In order to keep our high standards, our guides must be able to learn and execute recoveries and paddling skills. These classes will be given during guide training so they are not necessary but are useful if you have them already.

-It is important for all staff to be able to work independently, problem solve on their own and act professionally without constant supervision.

Certifications Needed:

-First aid/CPR certification is a requirement prior to being put on the schedule.

-Hammocks Beach and Carolina Beach State Park require all staff must get a boaters license unless 26 or older. This is free by class or $30 online.
