Paying $26.18 an hour 

Shift:

Day Shift: 7:00am - 7:00pm rotating schedule with every other weekend off

Responsibilities

Summary: Prints molded fiber and paper products in specified amounts within quality standards by monitoring and adjusting printer operations.

Essential duties and responsibilities: Duties performed by employees in this position will include, but not be limited to the following:

Prints molded fiber and paper products in specified amounts within quality standards by monitoring and adjusting printer operations.

  • Prepares printer for operation by:
  • Making set up adjustments
  • Checking input material
  • Making equipment changeovers (e.g. plates and inks, printer heads)
  • Records productions and production process by:
  • Completing forms
  • Performing basic math including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and writing work and answers as required
  • Maintains quality standards by:
  • Conducting first-piece and line-clearance inspection
  • Writing and marking on quality forms
  • Making decisions from gauges and written standards
  • Making equipment adjustments
  • Helps prepare others for productions job responsibilities by showing and explaining printer/setup operation
  • Maintains printer operation by
  • Solving process problems
  • Making equipment adjustments
  • Reporting production, quality, and safety information
  • Reporting decisions made
  • Asking questions of the correct people in a timely manner
  • Transports materials by forklift. Helps organize storage areas
  • Follows safety rules and helps with safety of others. Keeps plant and work areas clean

Requirements:

Basic math including multiplication and division. English reading capability at high school level for product preparation, storage, and shipping instructions and safety data. Minimal high school education or equivalent.

Preferred Skills:

  • Ability to determine the functional interrelationships of parts within a mechanical system
  • Work following specific standard operating instructions. Not highly social
  • Spatial and form visualization ability sufficient to determine product quality (e.g. print), carton packing levels, available storage space, color detection ability
  • Good manual dexterity
  • Hand-eye coordination for product handling
  • Job elements include industrial environment, including moving equipment, conveyor system, machine noise
  • Successful completion of jobs or similar activities requiring control of a mechanical process and manipulation of materials preferred
  • Demonstrated self-compliance with standards of conduct similar to industrial rules

Physical Requirements/ Environmental Conditions:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk
  • The employee frequently is required to talk and hear to communicate with crew members
  • Required to climb, stoop, bend and reach with hands and arms
  • The employee is occasionally required to push or pull with hands or arms, kneel or crouch
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to distinguish shades and colors
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and effectively with little to no supervision
  • Positive work attitude and willingness to cooperate
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • The noise level in the work environment is consistently above 85 decibels
  • Able to work with dust from paper converting process
  • The employee constantly works near moving mechanical parts and lift trucks
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or vapors or hazardous products such as degreasers and silicone sprays
  • Required to wear steel-toed shoes, bump cap, hair net, ear plugs and safety glasses in manufacturing area and beard net required
  • Ambient temp and humidity may be elevated during the summer months

The plant is a 24/7 operation with about 175 employees. The building is approximately 150,000 square feet and produces molded fiber products. These products include egg cartons which are made from recycled materials and molded fiber hinged lid containers and plates made from virgin fiber.
