Pacific Rail Services is hiring immediately for an Outside Gate Clerk to join our Team at the Portland, OR BNSF Railyard! This is a full-time permanent position in a recession proof industry. No experience is required in the entry level position as we'll teach you everything you need to know in order to be successful on the job.

- $16.55 /hour

Summary/Objective:
The Outside Gate Inspectoris responsible for inspecting the intermodal units arriving and departing the railroad facility. This would include inspecting the unit numbers and each trailer and container for damage, as well as completing necessary paperwork as required by the customer.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Inspects all intermodal units for unit initial and number while inputting them into a handheld device.
- Maintains accuracy of all trailer/container inspections, ensuring that all security seals are intact on all loaded units.
- Responsible for overseeing and documenting any damage to arriving or departing units with timeliness and accuracy to the customer.
- Ensure clearances are met on all carriages of trailers and containers.
- Pick up debris in the inspection area to maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Verify temperature settings on refrigerator units.
- Take photographs of outgoing container cargo on an as-needed basis.
- Maintain company values, rules, policies, and procedures are met to fulfill the company mission, as well as productive relationships with customers and vendors.
- Responsible for special tasks requested by management and/or supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills to coordinate with a variety of individuals.
- Ability to listen, learn, take direction, make changes, and work alone or in a group environment.
Work Environment:
- Required job duties are performed in outdoor environmental conditions, including rain, snow, ice, cold, heat, wind, dust, and fumes.
- The position may also be required to travel throughout the yard verifying the number of units.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually frequent.
- The ability to work in an environment that may be hazardous to persons unable to see and hear fast-moving equipment.
You will be employed directly by Pacific Rail Services and will not be considered an employee of the Railroad.
