Pacific Northwest Christian College is Hiring a Certified Athletic Trainer Near Kennewick, WA

JOB TITLE: Athletic Trainer and Instructor

JOB DESCRIPTION: Provide athletic training at practices and games in the late afternoons and evenings for collegiate athletes while also instructing collegiate courses such as Nutrition, Human Performance courses, or Anatomy during the day. No more than 1-2 courses per day, Monday-Thursday.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION: Master’s Degree in Athletic Training or comparable degree

CERTIFICATION/LICENSES: Must be BOC certified and the ability to obtain state athletic training licensure, certification, or registration. NPI Number will be required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Athletic trainers must have knowledge of a large range of medical problems. Assessment, evaluation skills and working with other healthcare professionals will be required.
  • Ability to think critically and make independent decisions regarding the assessment, treatment, rehabilitation and return to play decisions in cooperation with state guidelines and laws.
  • Ability to be thorough and detailed with injury tracking and documentation.
  • Possess the ability to communicate effectively in high stress/pressure situation when talking to patients, medical professionals, and coaches.
  • Must have the ability to organize, prioritize and perform multiple tasks with little or no supervision.

SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBLITIES:

  • Onsite care and management of injuries and illnesses including prevention, evaluation, management, and rehabilitation.
  • Assess risk of injury, perform biomechanical evaluation and coaching, self-care implementation and overall wellness promotion.
  • Document and ensure all athletes obtain physicals and proof of medical insurance, noting special needs such as allergies or rescue medications.
  • Documentation of all patient encounters (treatments, rehabilitation, progress notes)
  • Coordinate and implement injury prevention programs and customized preventative strategies and programs for athletes.
  • Provide accommodation recommendations, related to sport or schooling, for student athletes with restrictions or limitations.
  • Communicate with healthcare professionals and coaching staff regarding the injury status of athletes.
  • Responsible for administrative and other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Number of collegiate athletes AT is responsible for: ~120

Sports offered at Pacific Northwest Christian College: Football, Men’s & Women’s Soccer, Cross Country (Fall season only for 2024-2025)

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: Willing to travel out of state for a few games via charter bus.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Work is medium demand. Lifting 100 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects. Medium strength is required to position patients for examination and carry medical supplies. May assist patients by helping them on and off the field or exam table. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and some holidays.

Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
