Overview:
We are looking for a skilled handyman to join our team, responsible for performing a variety of maintenance tasks on commercial fishing vessels and at our other facilities. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment and be committed to upholding safety standards.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct maintenance tasks on commercial fishing vessels, including oil changes (not required to know, on-job training), routine checks, light bulb replacements, electrical work, painting, troubleshooting, and other related duties.
- Perform maintenance tasks at multiple facilities, such as changing light bulbs, moving items, fixing various issues, bolting, building, and other general tasks.
- Maintain and repair mechanical equipment, utilizing strong mechanical knowledge and troubleshooting skills.
- Operate equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks, performing routine maintenance checks and reporting any malfunctions or damage.
- Complete miscellaneous tasks as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
- Comfortable working in cramped conditions and onboard docked fishing vessels.
- Able to work on ladders and in various weather conditions.
- Capable of meeting the physical demands of the job, including standing, reaching, bending, pushing, pulling, and lifting/carrying over 70 lbs.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Drivers License (Required)
- Forklift certification or willingness to obtain certification.
- Basic computer skills and ability to use computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) for tracking work orders.
- Strong verbal communication skills for effective and professional interaction with personnel and management.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Capable of working effectively and efficiently, both independently and as part of a team.
Salary and Benefits:
- Hourly: $20 - $30
- Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 6:00 AM – 2:00 PM
