UTHealth Houston's School of Dentistry is hiring for a Dental Assistant I/II to join their team of professionals in the department of Endodontics. The DA I will be responsible for performing all duties required for four-handed chairside dentistry; performing infection control sterilization and instrument sterilization according to CDC guidelines; taking CBCTs/Dental Radiographs; fully stocking & maintaining inventory; and more. CPR/BLS Certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) is preferred. Experience working within an Endodontics clinical setting is a plus!

Position Summary:

Perform routine tasks assisting the professional dental staff and students in the examination and prophylactic, therapeutic and surgical treatment of patients. Works under direct supervision.

Position Key Accountabilities:

* Assists in the teaching of dental students, dental assisting students, and dental hygiene students in the principles of four-handed dentistry and dental assistant utilization (DAU).

* Provides chair side assistance to students and faculty.

* Maintains sterile, and prepares equipment, instruments, and supplies within working area.

* Maintains infection control standards.

* Maintains records of patients seen, procedures performed, materials used, and appointments.

* Must be able to respond to emergency situations.

* Performs other duties as assigned.

Certification/Skills:

Dental Assistant Registration by the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners.

Basic office or computer skills.

Minimum Education:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Completion of a recognized dental assistant educational program preferred.

Minimum Experience:

None.

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
