Pacific Community Ventures is Hiring a Portfolio Management Analyst, Near Oakland, CA

As a mission-driven lender, we invest in diverse small businesses across the state of California to help them grow and strengthen their practices. You’ll work with our team to monitor and manage the organization’s growing portfolio of loans for California small businesses, focused on expanding access to capital and advising for Black and Brown entrepreneurs.

PCV is a 25-year-old nonprofit CDFI that is invested in the success of historically excluded communities and small business owners to build and grow their businesses, create good quality jobs that address racial and gender wealth gaps, and build community wealth for shared prosperity. Our approach is unique. PCV’s Small Business Lending and Advising teams connect entrepreneurs to the pre- and post-investment expertise, and restorative capital they need to grow their businesses to help local economies thrive. Our research effort supports our advancement of best practices for inclusive underwriting, annual impact analysis, which allows us to assess our impact with small business clients, and design increasingly effective products and services for the communities we serve.

Why You're Needed

We’re a dynamic nonprofit organization with a growing Loan Fund that supports a growing number of small businesses with loans and pro bono mentoring, creating good jobs in low-and-moderate income communities. You will be a dedicated teammate with strong analytical, writing, and interpersonal skills who is passionate about investing in underserved communities.

This position will report to the Portfolio Manager. This is a wonderful opportunity for a quick learner who wants to gain experience in the fields of small business lending and community development.

Specific Responsibilities:

Support portfolio management activities of PCV’s small business loan portfolio, including:

  • Manage the onboarding of loans into the loan management system
  • Handle loan payment collections, including generating billing statements, posting NACHA files, working with borrowers to process irregular payments, coordinating loan payoffs, etc.
  • Maintain comprehensive and up-to-date loan transactions in the loan management system, including disbursements, fees, repayments, reversals, modifications, and charge-offs
  • Conduct outreach to customers with past-due accounts to facilitate payment arrangements and resolve outstanding balances
  • Contribute to processing loan modification requests
  • Contribute to processing loan guarantee collection requests and performing charge-off procedures
  • Respond to inquiries from borrowers regarding loan terms, interest statements, repayment schedules, payoff requests, and other related matters.
  • Retrieve and submit credit reports to the credit bureaus
  • Generate reports by conducting data collection and analysis
  • Create and update process documentation related to loan management
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes; participate in cross-functional projects aimed at improving systems, procedures, and workflows within the organization
  • Grow industry knowledge by attending events and developing strong working relationships with clients and partners

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics or other related field or equivalent work experience with an interest in finance/community development
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and Word; experience with Downhome Solutions, Tableau, QuickBooks preferred

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Self-starter willing to take initiative, and also works well in a team
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, attention to detail, and customer service skills
