Pacific Coast Producers (PCP), a growing agricultural cooperative with food production facilities across the West Coast, is looking for an experienced and highly skilled Automotive Mechanic to join our team at our production facility in Lodi, CA. PCP is dedicated to investing in its people and fostering a culture of service, where each employee can do their best to make affordable, high-quality food for customers across North America.

The Lodi production facility uses state-of-the-art equipment to process peaches, apricots, and apples into high-quality finished products. This position is part of a seniority-based collective bargaining unit and requires work on various shifts with potential for a great deal of overtime during the processing season

Pay Rate: $36.84 per hour. Full time/ 40 hours per week with some weekend and overtime hours required when needed.

The Forklift Mechanic reports directly to the Maintenance Superintendent and will perform routine maintenance of all automotive equipment and performs the following duties:

Key responsibilities include:

  • Monitor the condition of all forklift/automotive production equipment.
  • Remove and replace worn, broken or defective parts.
  • “Shoot trouble”, tune up and make adjustments on power units.
  • Grind valves, re-babbit and scrape bearings on all types of forklift/automotive equipment.
  • Disassemble, overhaul and re-assemble all mechanical parts in forklifts, auto trucks and power trucks. 
  • Remove, repair, and replace complete electrical and ignition circuits.
  • Assist other mechanics as needed to install, repair and replace equipment. 
  • Oil, grease, clean and do maintenance painting on forklifts, trucks and lifts.
  • Change and repair tires and tubes.
  • Maintain a clean, organized and hazard free work environment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned/necessary.

Requirements:

  • Committed to safety and food safety, including use of appropriate protective equipment.
  • Utilize communication skills to interact with colleagues and internal customers. 
  • Reliable and able to maintain excellent attendance.
  • Satisfactory completion of a related educational certificate, program or degree; and/or comparable work experience, plus formal training in this area; and a fundamental mechanical aptitude, which may be assessed by a practical exam.
  • Certified to operate a lift truck operator or able to become such.
  • Able to work overtime as required.
