Pacific Coast Producers is Hiring a Clean Up Worker Near The Dalles, OR

Pacific Coast Producers (PCP), a growing agricultural cooperative with food production facilities across the West Coast, has an exciting opportunity for a Clean Up Worker to join our team at our The Dalles, OR facilities. PCP is dedicated to investing in its people and fostering a culture of service, where each employee can do their best to make affordable, high-quality food for customers across North America.

We have two production facilities located in The Dalles, Oregon, specifically dedicated to processing cherries. The facilities are equipped with advanced sorting and pitting equipment, enabling us to efficiently process large volumes of cherries while maintaining strict quality standards. We take our environmental responsibility seriously and have implemented a number of eco-friendly practices at the facilities, such as water conservation measures and use energy-efficient lighting and equipment to reduce our carbon footprint. Our facilities are an important part of the Pacific Northwest's agricultural industry and play a key role in the production of high-quality cherry products for consumers around the world.

Pay Rate: $17.60 per hour. Weekend and overtime hours required when needed. Full-Time.

The Clean Up Worker is responsible for maintaining all facilities and equipment in a manner consistent with good manufacturing practices as defined by FDA, USDA and company policies.

Primary job duties would include:

  • Clean and sanitize all equipment via COP (clean-out-of-place) and CIP (clean-in-place) techniques; disassemble and reassemble equipment where necessary.
  • Maintain and sanitize all exterior surfaces of equipment and physical plant as directed.
  • Work with strong chemicals, high pressure water hoses, hot water and processing equipment.
  • Ensure and maintain highest level of hygiene standards, both personal and equipment/area related.
  • Perform tasks in the preparation of surfaces and the application of specialized mold inhibiting paints to meet sanitary standards.
  • Maintain exterior grounds and common employee welfare areas (i.e. parking lot, flower beds, lunch room, restrooms, etc.).
  • Empty all trash receptacles.
  • Read and follow all safety measures and directives in the appropriate use of chemicals for the sanitation of the equipment and plant.
  • Wear all appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when using chemicals, or around areas where chemicals are being used.
  • Work with other crewmembers as a team; fill in as needed in other sanitation areas.
  • Document duties performed in sanitation logs, pest control, etc.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Supervisor.

Job Requirements:

  • Demonstrates ability to read, write and comprehend instructions in relation to sanitation procedures, operations, safety and working with chemicals.
  • Demonstrates ability to follow processes and systems. Individual is detail oriented and organized.
  • Understanding of hygiene standards/protocol for food safety; demonstrates an anti-contamination mentality/focus.
  • Possesses good time management skills; able to set priorities and follow through.
  • Demonstrates excellent safety record and follows all good manufacturing practices. Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Reliable and able to maintain excellent attendance.

Physical Requirements

Frequent physical activity includes walking, bending, standing, twisting, pushing, pulling, lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs., touching, reaching, gripping, finger dexterity, and hearing. Moderate physical activity may include stooping, color identification, close vision, and depth perception. Under strenuous conditions, employees are still expected to perform their job requirements in a safe manner. Must be able to work overtime if needed.

Environmental Factors

Working conditions include exposure to plant temperature extremes, dampness, humidity, fumes, and high noise levels. Work requires wearing proper protective equipment. Incumbent may work with or around machinery and/or in a crowded area.
