DescriptionWho We ServePacific Clinics serves children, transitional age youth, families, adults, and older adults. We offer a full range of mental and behavioral health services, foster care and social services, housing, continuing adult education and early childhood education programs to Medi-Cal eligible individuals and families throughout Alameda, Contra Costa, Fresno, Kings, Los Angeles, Madera, Orange, Placer, Riverside, Sacramento, San Bernardino, San Francisco, Santa Clara, Solano, Stanislaus, Stockton, Tulare and Ventura Counties.
What We Offer
Under supervision the Family Specialist III also assists with activities within their scope of practice and training including but not limited to Functional Behavioral Analysis, facilitating Child and Family Team (CFT) meetings, completing Core Evaluation Data Elements (CEDE), and writing of the Individual Child and Family Plans for assigned families. Under the clinical supervision of a Facilitator or Clinical Program Manager, Family Specialist IIIs will provide input to Assessment, Child and Adolescents Needs and Strengths (CANS), and Treatment plan documents. All activities related to diagnoses (including the assessment and treatment plan documents) are the responsibility of the clinical supervisor, not the Family Specialist III.
Responsibilities And Duties
Takes actions that resolve conflicts in a manner that is best for both the organization and the individuals involved. Addresses complaints and problems quickly and effectively and keeps all parties informed of the status of any negotiations required. Encourages employees to report problems or concerns, and negotiates outcomes that are viewed as
fair and even-handed.
Documents Clearly and Accurately
Documents, in a legible manner, pertinent information related to the child's treatment plan, including interventions and outcomes in accordance with established policies and procedures and guidelines for charting.
Encouraging Customer Focus
Consistently conveys that customers are the highest priority. Respects customer needs and expectations and lets customers know if their expectations cannot be met. Refrains from complaining about (or speaking negatively about) customer behavior or expectations. Communicates in a manner that promotes and sustains customer
satisfaction and encourages others to do the same. Achieves these outcomes by ensuring that customer needs and deadlines are realistic and that they are met. Publicly recognizes those who deliver excellent customer service.

Recognizes opportunities and initiates actions to capitalize on them. Looks for new and productive ways to make an impact. Minimum Education And/Or Experience
Eight (8) years experience Healthcare/Medical - Psychology/Behavioral/Mental Health in a related field working with children and a Associates (AA/AS) required
OR
Six (6) years experience Healthcare/Medical - Social Worker in a related field working with children and a Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) required
Preferred ExperienceEight (8) years experience Healthcare/Medical - Psychology/Behavioral/Mental Health in a mental health setting and a Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) required.

Responsibilities And Duties
- Demonstrates mastery of responsibilities and duties of the Family Specialist I and II job descriptions.
- Provides direct billable mental health services, documents those activities in alignment with MediCal regulations, and achieves set productivity expectations.
- Coaches and mentors others in the agency’s service delivery principles and other concepts including functional behavior analysis, safety planning, and engagement processes.
- Teaches others how to utilize strengths of children, families, and others to assist in the implementation and achievement of goals and outcomes.
- Identifies and develops community resources, established relationships with community partners and leads groups activities in the service of children and families.
- Mentors, coaches and trains other Family Specialists.
- Coaches others on how to engage caregivers in building youth specific parenting responses that support positive behavior change and overall family relationships.
- Documents interactions and services while simultaneously maintaining individual expectations and providing documentation coaching to others.
- Provides leadership in developing program responses to needs identified across a number of youth and families where natural community resources are not available or appropriate.
- Facilitates CFT meetings, completes FBA’s, CEDE and ICFP’s as needed.
- Provides input into Assessments, Tx plans, and CANS under the supervision of a Facilitator or CPM
- Position specific duties and responsibilities may very depending upon program.

- Bachelor's Degree (BA/ BS) in Psychology and six (6) years experience working with children required.
- Associates (AA/AS) in Psychology AND eight (8) years experience in a mental health setting preferred.
- Bachelor's Degree (BA/ BS) in a mental health related field AND six (6) years experience in a mental health setting preferred.

OR

- Mental Health Rehabilitation Specialist (MHRS) certification eligibility required
- Must pass Department of Justice (DOJ), Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI), and Child Abuse Index Check (CAIC) background clearance.
- Valid California Driver's license with two years experience driving and clean driving record may be required.
