JOB SUMMARY

Works within the vision, mission and philosophy of the agency. Under general supervision, implements the Addiction Prevention Services (APS) Program at designated schools and in family settings. Fulfills a role in the collaboration and communication between the Agency and the assigned school and Supervisor. The APS II has the ability to provide Level I & II prevention activities. 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

1. Serves as an active participant in providing EMQFF APS services with the school’s core team (or equivalent) for students referred to APS. 

2. Works in collaboration with the school staff to identify and provide relevant presentation to school groups (e.g., students, parents, teachers, support staff) as appropriate.

3. Co-leads APS groups following the curriculum.

4. Receives, reviews, and processes referrals of students as necessary. Screens each student referred for APS services with the support of the Supervisor/Manager.

5. Provides referral sources for students and families for services within the school district as well as the community.

6. Initiates and receives written parental consent for each student candidate.

7. Completes outcome measures and student evaluation of program. Collects all required documentation, such as progress notes, activity notes, evaluations, outcome measures, closing referrals and recommendations, weekly performance reports, and notes on drop in visits.

8. Provides initial evaluations, recommendations, and follow up (including recourses) at the completion of each group.

9. Performs other related responsibilities, as assigned, to support specific department/business needs.

QUALIFICATIONS

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s Degree (B.A./B.S..) in Mental Health.

• Two (2 years) of experience in a related field.

• Drug and Alcohol training and experience required or CAADAC ( California Association of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors) certification.
