Compensation: $60,000 to $70,000 annual depending on experience plus excellent benefits

ORGANIZATIONAL BACKGROUND

PACE is a local community non-profit founded in 1976 to provide job training and placement services for the Asian Pacific Islander communities in Los Angeles. PACE has since expanded into a variety of service areas, all tailored to meet the growing and changing needs of the multi-ethnic communities in Los Angeles County. Now, in addition to job training and employment services, significant PACE programs encompass: business development; early childhood education (Head Start); financial education and asset building; housing and rehabilitation services; weatherization and energy-conservation programs; and affordable housing development. PACE serves more than 60,000 people each year with our wide scope of services with approximately 350 staff. PACE is recognized as a leader in addressing problems of poverty and economic inequity in ethnic minority communities and has a reputation of being responsive to community needs and is known for creating innovative solutions to the myriad of challenges faced by our clients.

PACE BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT CENTER (PACE BDC)

PACE BDC promotes the growth and economic expansion of diverse Los Angeles communities through the infusion of capital and the provision of business consultation services and financial literacy training. We target low and moderate income residents, entrepreneurs and business owners in Los Angeles with diverse loan products as well as technical assistance focused on financial education and credit building. The PACE Business Development Center (BDC) provides no-cost advising services and low-cost educational programs to entrepreneurs looking to start or grow their small business. PACE BDC business advisors work with entrepreneurs in one-to-one sessions in the areas of management, marketing, sales, finance, accounting, and other disciplines required for small business growth, expansion, and innovation.

I. POSITION FUNCTION

Under the supervision, direction of and collaboration with the Loan Manager, the individual will carry out all day-to-day activities in outreaching, recruiting and acquiring borrowers, servicing existing loans and collecting payments to meet and exceed performance goals. Ensure the visibility of PACE BDC and services by organizing and conducting related workshops and special events. Collaborating with other PACE Business Development Center (PACE BDC) business counselors and PACE staff will be necessary. Networking to establish and strengthen productive relationship with relevant partners is an important function.

II. WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

  • Actively engage business owners and entrepreneurs to meet the need for small business loan by assessing the needs, building application to lendable stage
  • Network to establish and build relationship with business services providers and community leaders to gain loan referrals and increase visibility
  • Collaborate with BDC and PACE staff to get and offer assistance in order to serve clients at best possible

III. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

  • Outreach & Recruitment & Visibility
  • Conduct regular credit workshops and loan orientation to reach and recruit client
  • Attend networking events in the communities
  • Organize and set up our own networking and special events
  • Meet current and prospective clients to get referrals and provide additional loan and services
  • Establish and maintain partners to gain loan referrals pipeline including banks, elected offices and small business services providers
  • Loan Packaging/Servicing/Collecting
  • Have PACE loan application completed
  • Have Personal Financial Statement SBA Form 413 completed
  • Obtain a copy of Driver License, business license, and Tax Identifications
  • Compile tax returns, financial statements, bank statements, and credit report with FICO score
  • Monthly monitoring loan repayment
  • Provide advisory services to assist business meet its loan objectives
  • Conduct regular site visit to assess status of business, build relationship, provide more loan to grow
  • Mediate with borrower when loan is delinquent including restructuring the loan
  • When default prepare collection plan and carry out
  • Business Technical Assistance
  • Business financial and management needs assessment
  • Formulate and present technical assistance plan
  • Follow up and provide the technical assistance
  • Referral to other services resources

IV. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCES AND SKILLS:

  • Five or more years working experience in accounting, financing, marketing, or loan servicing or collection with small business
  • Minimum Bachelor degree in business administration or related field; MBA highly desirable
  • Experience in underwriting loans or loan packaging preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office using Words, Excel, and Internet Explorer
  • Proficient in customer relation management (CRM) software preferred
  • Excellent, proven interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills
  • Demonstrated ability in public presentation for workshops
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent knowledge of local businesses and resources
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced office setting
  • Effective problem-solving and mediation skills
  • Bi-lingual skills highly desirable

V. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must have the use of an automobile with adequate insurance coverage and a valid Driver’s License
  • Must pass a pre-employment physical examination at the time of employment.
  • COVID vaccination required; must have two-dose series of Pfizer or Moderna or a single-dose of Johnson & Johnson. Those that need a medical or religious exemption must reach out separately.

The working conditions and physical demands of this position will be those that must be met to successfully perform the essential duties of the position. The physical environment the incumbent will work in is typically an office environment with moderate noise levels that would be expected in that type of work environment. Representative physical demands of the job include: normal vision and hearing, standing for extended periods, sitting for extended periods, kneeling and stooping, manipulating objects with hands, reaching overhead, and occasionally lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
