P.S. ARTS is Hiring an Arts Integration Coach Trainee Near Los Angeles, CA

Location: Hybrid: Virtual and On-site; Los Angeles, CA

Training Schedule: June 10 – 14 and June 17 – 21*, 2024

5 hours per day

*Please note, June 19 is a P.S. ARTS holiday and no training will be scheduled

Designation: Temporary/Seasonal

Hourly Rate: $25/hour

Pay will be provided in accordance with P.S. ARTS’ payroll

Training Overview:

P.S. ARTS’ Arts Integration Coach Training is a two week-long hybrid, paid training program.

Training is designed to provide Teaching Artists and Educators interested in Educator

Development and Arts Integration the fundamentals to collaborate with classroom teachers to

design, implement, and assess arts integrated lessons.

This training is for those with demonstrated experience in K-6 classrooms, expertise in one of

the visual or performing arts disciplines, and an interest in working with general education

classroom teachers.

Topics will include:

  • Andragogy and Coaching Adult Learners;
  • Lesson Planning through a Culturally Responsive Lens;
  • CA Visual and Performing Arts Standards (VAPA) and Core Subject Alignment;
  • Assessment; and
  • Collaboration with Classroom Teachers.

change in response to training and/or organizational need at the discretion of the CEO.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Demonstrated experience of in-school (K-6th) teaching
  • Expertise in teaching an arts discipline – dance, music, theater, or visual arts
  • Familiarity with Arts Integration objectives, curriculum, and teaching techniques
  • Familiarity with California’s framework for VAPA, Common Core, and NGSS
  • Experience with andragogy and providing coaching and/or feedback to adult learners
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills with both adults and students
  • Ability to work collaboratively in/out of a school environment and with school communities
  • Experience working in Title I designated schools and surrounding communities preferred
  • Fluency in Spanish preferred

Working Conditions:

Teaching Artists and Coaches are required to maintain a safe and clean classroom

environment – physical or virtual, that promotes learning, creativity, and equity. Coach

Trainees may routinely:

  • Lift, push, or carry supplies, equipment, instruments, or classroom furniture up-to 40lbs.
  • Bend, twist, reach, stand and/or sit for long periods of time.
  • View LCD screens for long periods of time.
  • Work/teach outdoors.
  • Work with video equipment and a comfort with recording and/or being recorded.

Pay: $25.00 per hour
