Job Position: Parks Maintenance Laborer - Seasonal

Location: Grand Rapids, MI 49506

Pay Rate: $15.00/hr

Shift: Morning - Monday through Friday; 40 hours per week

Description:

We are seeking seasonal staff to fill our Park and Recreation Parks maintenance positions.

These position are working for a the city's Park and Recreation Department.

This position start March 18, 2024 and works through the middle of November 2024 (approx. 7 months)

This is manual and basically unskilled seasonal work involving the routine cleaning and maintenance of park facilities. Work is performed under the guidance of a designated supervisor, with some independence in work routine.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Clean restrooms, pick up litter, remove trash and perform other custodial duties in park or cemetery facilities
• Mow and trim parks, edge sidewalks and curbs as needed; blow off tennis courts, sidewalks, and parking lots
• Landscaping and maintenance
• Assist in leaf removal

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
• Ability to perform heavy manual work including bending, stooping, reaching, and lifting heavy objects
• Ability to work cooperatively with other employees and the public

Other Necessary Qualifications

• Possession of a valid Michigan driver's license
• Ability to pass a physical/drug screen/background check
