Position Title: Education Project Coordinator
Reports to: Education, Outreach, and Welcoming Department Director
Status: Full-time (40 hours), exempt, with benefits
Base Salary: $45,000.00; additional based on education, experience, and credentials

Position Summary:
The Education Project Coordinator is responsible to coordinate the daily operations and activities of the Education Project (McKinney-Vento services to children and youth experiencing homelessness), as well as educating youth and families about services available to them through Ozone House and partner providers. This position works closely with school district homeless liaisons, building allies to help homeless students succeed by providing transportation, basic needs assistance, school supplies, referrals to local services, and other needed resources. In addition, the Education Project Coordinator educates schools and other community stakeholders about what services are available to students and families via in-person presentations and an electronic newsletter and partners with volunteers, interns, educators and service providers to ensure students have access to services.
The Education Project Coordinator is part of the Education, Outreach and Welcoming (EOW) Team which is responsible for designing and carrying out the agency’s overall outreach efforts across the community including schools, community-based organizations, and all other places that youth congregate. This role will work with the Outreach Manager to cover outreach opportunities throughout the community. They will also be responsible for participating in coverage at the drop-in center one afternoon a week.
Education Qualifications:
Master’s degree in social work, education or related field
  • Commensurate experience and skills will be considered in lieu of level of education/licensing/credentials, etc.
Experience Qualifications:
  • 3 years’ professional experience with families and youth in crisis situations and demonstrated competences in managing crisis situations
  • Experience in educational settings and/or school systems preferred
  • Facility with word processing, database management and web navigation
  • Demonstrated administrative competencies such as communication, planning, program development, data collection & analysis, evaluation, reporting and resource management
  • Proven experience engaging with diverse identities, including intersecting identities of race, ethnicity, socioeconomic background and sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression.
  • Commitment to best practices including Positive Youth Development, Harm-Reduction, Housing First, and Trauma-Informed approaches.
  • Work requires effective written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills; ability to motivate teams to produce quality work within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects; ability to participate in and facilitate group meetings.
  • Possess strong work ethic and ability to take initiative. Demonstrate a high level of personal and professional integrity and trustworthiness.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment and annual background check; valid driver’s license, current insurance, and access to reliable transportation.
Job Responsibilities and Duties:
Programmatic Duties with the WISD:
  • Assist schools with the identification of McKinney-Vento eligible students and families by overseeing closed-loop referral process.
  • Conduct and provide needs assessments, crisis intervention, information and referrals (typically by phone) to families and students in homeless situations.
  • Work with WISD Grants Coordinator and other community partners to identify resources and remove barriers, including (but not limited to) immediate enrollment needs, connection to special education services, connection to tutoring services, credit recovery programs, and other academic supports.
  • Document need for and coordinate temporary (stopgap) transportation for McKinney-Vento eligible students while districts coordinate long-term transportation. Communicate long-term transportation needs with district personnel and maintain documentation of resources provided.
  • Support outreach efforts through multiple channels and consistently communicate with schools, community partners, and other stakeholders via mailings, newsletters and other means.
Programmatic Duties on the EOW Team:
  • Participate in developing an annual plan for Drop-In Center programming and outreach.
  • Work with the EOW team to deliver positive youth development programming at the Drop-In Center and ensure adequate staffing capacity and coverage.
  • Provide youth with crisis prevention, short-term intervention, referrals and linkages to Ozone House and other community services and resources.
  • Provide psychosocial assessments for runaway and homeless youth as needed.
  • Ensure regular and responsive communication with schools and other youth-serving agencies to provide information and education about Ozone House services.
  • Coordinate with the Education, Outreach, and Welcoming Department Director to develop/enhance community education curriculum and materials, facilitate educational presentations to schools and other stakeholder groups and help publicize, coordinate and track community education and outreach opportunities.
