Ozark School District is Hiring a Basketball Coach/Teacher Near Ozark, AR

Job Title: 7th and Junior High Girls Basketball Coach/Teacher

Grade Level: Middle/Secondary

Reports to: Building principal; Athletic Director; Superintendent; Head Coach

Job Summary
Position is responsible for coaching student athletes and preparing them for success in basketball and competitive events. Position motivates student athletes to develop an appreciation of all sports. Off-season assignment and teaching assignment is TBD based on certifications. 

Qualifications
Maintain all training and requirements for certification set forth by the Division of Elementary and Secondary Education and the Arkansas Activities Association for teacher/coach/assistant
coach.

Essential Duties
1. Works with student athletes during practices and events.
2. Holds organizational meetings for team prospects and encourages students to participate.
3. Assesses skills and assigns team positions.
4. Develops a regular practice schedule and organizes practice time to provide both individual and team development.
5. Works with the Athletic Director/Principals in scheduling facilities for practices and
competition.
6. Coaches and instructs student athletes, individually or in groups, regarding the rules,
regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport.
7. Observes student athletes, during events and practice to determine the needs for individual or team improvement.
8. Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior and provides proper supervision of
students at all times.
9. Monitors the academic performance of team members to ensure that eligibility requirements are met.
10. Follows established procedures in the event of an injury.
11.Conferences with parents/guardians, as necessary, regarding the performance of their
student athlete.
12. Follows state regulations governing the program.

13. Models sports-like and professional behavior and maintains appropriate conduct towards
student athletes, officials, and spectators.
14. Acts as a team representative and promotes athletics by communicating with the news
media, booster clubs, service clubs, and other organizations.
15. Follows established procedures for supplies and uniforms.
16. Maintains eligibility forms, emergency information, equipment inventory, and other related records.
17. Models non discriminatory practices in all activities.

Other Duties:
1. Attends staff development meetings, clinics, and other professional activities to improve
coaching performance.

JOB SUMMARY: Classroom instruction.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Other duties may be assigned.
Teaches district approved curriculum based on state frameworks and standards.
Prepares for assigned classes, and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of
immediate supervisor.
Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and provides individualized and small group instruction to adapt and differentiate the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.
Translates lesson plans into developmentally appropriate learning experiences.
Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the
physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals
or student groups involved.
Evaluates pupils' academic growth through teacher-made tests, standardized tests, checklists, observations, demonstrations, and other performance assessments; keeps appropriate records and prepares progress reports.
Identifies pupil needs, makes appropriate referrals, and develops strategies to support students with individual education plans.
Makes modifications for G/T, ELL, LD, physically impaired, at-risk, and other needs of
individual students, including their learning styles.
Creates a safe and orderly classroom environment that is conducive to learning and
appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student conduct,
develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure, and maintains order in the
classroom in a fair and just manner.
Is available to students and parents for education-related purposes during the instructional day and extended hours when necessary.
Plans and coordinates the work of paraprofessionals, parents, and volunteers.
Attends and participates in faculty meetings and professional development activities.
Collaborates with other members of the staff in planning instructional goals, objectives, and
methods; assists in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
Supports and participates in extra-curricular activities, such as PTA/PTO, sporting and
cultural events, etc.
Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to maintain a safe and orderly environment to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
Communicates regularly with various internal and external publics to develop and maintain a
positive school/community relationship.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervises classroom and students and volunteers.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. MINIMUM EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree
in appropriate major or course of study.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Valid teaching license for grade level and subject area assigned. Meets requirements for Highly Qualified Teacher designation, if applicable to the teaching assignment.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of students, administrators, staff and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, table, or schedule form.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to
instructional program; ability to plan and implement lessons based on district and school objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers and parents; skill in oral and written communication. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies. Ability to analyze test data for use in making curricular decisions. General computer skills, including Internet research skills and data entry.
