The Oxxford Hunt neighborhood swim team is looking for a head coach for the 2024 TSA season. The head coach will lead our coaching staff and swimmers with enthusiasm and positivity while promoting sportsmanship and teamwork. Our team is a close-knit neighborhood team of approximately 100 swimmers, and it is imperative that each swimmer is made to feel important by providing receiving quality instruction and encouragement. The head coach will work closely with our assistant coaches to develop and execute practices that support individual swimmer and team goals.
The season runs from mid-May through mid-July with daily practices and meets (Monday-Friday). The head coach must be available for afternoon practices all season and morning practices in June and July. Additionally, the head coach must be available for the Cary City swim meet and TSA Championship meet, both of which are in July and are a whole day event.
The general duties of the head coach include:
· Attend team functions/events
· Organize and coach swim practice/drills; includes water and dryland
· Attend and lead morning and afternoon practice sessions
· Work with assistant and junior coaches to prepare/coach meets
· Attend the team time trials/six dual meets/Cary City meet/TSA Championship meet
· Prepare lineups and heat sheets prior to meets
· Register swimmers for the Cary City/TSA Championship meets in Swimtopia
· Develop and execute incentives and rewards that promote a fun and supportive team atmosphere
· Provide feedback to swimmers as to execution of drills during practice
· Communicate professionally with swimmers, parents, coaches, and the swim team board
Qualifications:
· Previous swimming experience (competitive or recreational swimming)
· Previous coaching experience is a plus but is not required
· Lifeguard/First Aid/CPR certifications are a plus but are not required
· Knowledge of TSA rules is a plus but is not required
The pay range for the head coach is $3,000 - $4,000 depending on prior coaching experience.
