Job Description:

Oxford Consulting Services is currently interviewing for an Assistive Technology Specialist to provide K-12 school-based services. Providers will work one on one with students, as well as other staff members and disciplines to provide customized programs and intervention to meet each student’s communication goals and needs. Job Responsibilities:

· Lead school-based teams in planning and implementing AT assessment and service. Assist teams to make formal recommendations based upon the results of the AT assessment.

· Provide information to individual teams regarding the mechanics of incorporating AT into Individual Education Programs.

· Prepare and conduct in-services and workshops related to assistive technology devices and services; adaptive devices; appropriate teaching strategies; and/or, other accommodations and modifications to local district personnel, personnel, community agencies, parent groups, and families as requested by the supervisor. Attend and participate in staff development activities and/or meetings as requested by the supervisor.

· Identify, design, construct, and/or provide purchasing information about appropriate assistive technology devices.

· Maintain materials or equipment in the Assistive Technology Assessment library and make recommendations for the purchase of additional materials and equipment.

· Confer with parents, school building personnel, and others regarding assistive technology devices and services.

· Support districts, schools, or classroom-based teams in engineering environments to promote universal access across curricular areas.

· Travel to schools as scheduled to provide services to students and/or school personnel.

· Perform related duties as assigned by the supervisor or which are indicated to assure the physical or emotional well-being of students.

· Use personal safety techniques to avoid exposure and injury to self, students, and other staff.

· Ability to successfully complete and maintain certification of district adopted crisis prevention/ intervention program(s).

· Maintain satisfactory job attendance record.

Requirements:

  • 1 year of school-based or clinical experience; children ages 3-18
  • Experience in IEP services and assessments preferred
  • Pediatric Experience
  • Strong Clinical & Interpersonal Skills
  • Excellent Written & Oral Communication Skills
  • SLP or OT Certification
