PURPOSE OF THE JOB The Regulatory Law function is a strategic business partner and legal counsel to the enterprise. This role provides legal support to all three Owens Corning businesses and several corporate functions focused on North America. This person will work closely with the Senior Counsel of Regulatory Law and act as a key partner to operations, sustainability leaders, sourcing leaders and providing valuable guidance on a wide variety of EHS, Sustainability, and International Trade issues. The successful candidate serves as a front-line subject matter expert on regulations and OC standards impacting our operations and businesses. This person will also partner closely with law department peers, particularly in the areas of Product Stewardship and Compliance, Litigation and Business Counseling.

Job Responsibilities Be a trusted legal advisor and business partner
  • Continuously builds an intimate knowledge of our Company, including internal structures, business strategies, and goals to ensure that all guidance is provided within an appropriate context.
  • Develops training, guidance materials and tools for our business professionals that builds capacity and competency to allow them to be effective decision makers in their roles.
  • Communicates legal and compliance issues and strategy to leaders in a timely and effective way and advises business leaders on mitigation strategies.
  • Support the Senior Environmental Leader in mitigating environmental liability concerning real estate matters.
  • Monitoring and communicating emerging sustainability, environmental, and trade regulatory issues (e.g. extended producer responsibility, transboundary movement of waste, etc.) and assists in providing proactive counseling to mitigate compliance risk.
Provide creative and practical legal solutions to drive enterprise strategy
  • Advises and counsels business partners on a broad range of legal issues including but not limited to, EHS, trade compliance, sustainablity and government affairs/lobbying.
  • Supports the Director, Regulatory Law, Government Affairs and Trade Compliance in managing risk within the defined scope of responsibility. This includes early proactive involvement with stakeholders to assess legal risk in potential disputes and advising on strategic alternatives. When appropriate, this may also include effectively managing outside counsel on compliance and litigation, ensuring they understand and execute on actions needed for OC success. This includes assisting in:
      • Environmental enforcement matters
      • Safety enforcement matters
      • M&A transactions and post-acquisition initiatives
      • Real Estate & Sourcing support concerning environmental liability
      • Regulatory interpretations associated with EHS, Sustainability and International Trade
JOB R EQIUREMENTS Minimum Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2-5 years of experience working as a regulatory, environmental, litigation attorney, preferably with in-house experience.
  • Juris Doctorate and Bar Membership in at least one state required.

Brings relevant law expertise to the legal function and can communicate legal challenges to legal and business leaders. Develops practical solutions to complex compliance and regulatory matters. Listens carefully and identifies high-risk situations requiring escalation and mitigation.
  • Strategic & Proactive Mindset. Demonstrates the ability to identify and respond to trends, and to develop sustainable improvements and solutions.
