Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human services or closely related field OR one year of successful experience in human services field. (Education can be substituted with experience as follows: associate degree and 2 years’ successful experience in human services OR 4 years’ successful experience in human services).
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification (or ability to become certified within 30 days of employment).
  • Experience working in community-based day programs.
  • Management experience in human services or related field.
  • Must possess the ability to create a schedule based on a multitude of fluid and complex factors.
  • Proficient in Windows operating system, electronic databases, and technology.
  • Knowledge and ability to utilize proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Willing and able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, participants, other departments within Overture, partnering agencies, and the public.
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks based on importance and impact.
  • Understand group dynamics, interpersonal relationships, and non-violent crisis intervention techniques.
  • Must have solid grasp of the state regulations and rules that apply to their department and have familiarity with the formal waiver language that determines requirements for services.
  • Must understand the structure of the intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) system at the state level and be able to train staff on this information.
  • Must be able and willing to work some hours outside of normal working hours to respond to emergencies or to otherwise meet the needs of our clients and their families.
  • Must have consistent access to reliable transportation that will allow for quick response to an emergency.
  • Must possess a valid Driver’s License from the state in which you reside, maintain a clean driving record, and proof of insurance per company insurance guidelines.
  • Must pass a motor vehicle record (MVR), background check, and other screening per Company requirements.

Essential Job Functions (Included, but not limited to):

  • Approve and finalize day program transportation and activity schedules submitted by the Lead DSM.
  • Ensures that group ratios are appropriate; that activities are meaningful and person-centered; that the activity is within a reasonable distance of the base site, or that a more remote activity is approved and safeguards necessary are in place.
  • Plan the monthly calendar, including any themes, special activities, etc.
  • Promote cooperative working relationships and positive team atmosphere, both internally and externally with providers, CCB agencies, families, coworkers, and the people we serve.
  • Maintain basic knowledge of HR compliance with all existing legal requirements including any related to the Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Family and Medical Leave Act, Wage & Hour laws, Worker Compensation, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and so forth. Maintains minimal company exposure to lawsuits.
  • Follow and exemplify Overture’s vision, mission, and values.
  • Perform other such duties as assigned by supervisor that are within the scope of the position, as well as those reflective of professional experience, education, and ability.
  • Adhere to the company’s standards of conduct and agree to read and comply with all company policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Passion and commitment to serve persons with developmental disabilities with dignity and acceptance of Overture’s Person-Centered philosophy.
  • Maintain program approval standards in accordance with state requirements
  • Attend Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) and Service Plan Meetings for PRS; unless delegating to the lead is unavoidable due to a significant scheduling conflict, planned vacation or illness.
  • Ensure all service plans are received from case management and added to the PRS’s electronic file in a timely manner.
  • Exercise a strengths-based approach toward people receiving services and staff and maintain high expectations.

  • Physical Requirements - Requires repetitive manual and finger dexterity and eye- hand coordination; requires the ability to use all office equipment; and the ability to lift/carry up to 30 pounds using appropriate body mechanics.
  • Visual, Hearing, and Communication Requirements - Must be able to read, understand and communicate information and ideas orally and in writing to effectively communicate with others.
  • Pressure Factor- This position may require employees to adapt to a frequently changing environment, including handling and de-escalating incidents. This position will interact with individuals who are intellectually and developmentally delayed, may be frail, confused, and at times engage in verbal or physical aggression. Accordingly, it is sometimes necessary to deal with unpleasant situations with the need to problem solve.
