JOB PURPOSE AND REPORTING STRUCTURE: Under the direction of the Medical Assistant Supervisor or Nurse Manager, the Lead Medical Assistant performs various medical support specialist duties, performs lead duties for Medical Assistant staff to ensure optimal patient flow and excellent customer service in accordance with OCHC policies, practices and procedures. The Lead Medical Assistant has a reporting relationship with the Chief Medical Director for clinical and other relevant issues.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES perform all general duties as Medical Assistant see (MA-Job Description) to include the following duties below:

• Promote a team approach and a positive image of the organization to everyone with whom contact is made and serve as an example of exceptional customer service to other Medical Assistants.
• Assist with training and onboarding of new Medical Assistants.
• Assist Medical Assistants with routine simple lab procedures – HCT, PG test, Urine dip stick; collect blood and urine specimens and prepare for laboratory analysis.
• Maintain clinical equipment temperature logs i.e. refrigerators, eyewash stations, autoclave.
• Maintain inventory of clinical supplies and sample medications
• Monthly quality control checks for point of care equipment i.e. (LED, A1C, and INR) machines.
• Monitor all sample and floor stock medications and other supplies.
• Follow directives from nurse manager and physicians as instructed,
• Participate in marketing activities/events for the Primary Care Department.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned

MARGINAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Provide coverage assistance to other Medical Assistants as needed.

PROTECTIVE CLOTHING/EQUIPMENT REQUIRED: Requires the use of personal protective equipment as needed.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Requires Medical Assistant certification, at least five years of experience in a medical clinic, and/or community agency, or community health care clinic environment. Demonstrated supervisor ability and strong communication skills.
