Job Summary: The CT Tech, also known as a CT Technologist or CT Scan Technologist, is responsible for performing diagnostic CT scans on patients using specialized equipment and ensuring the delivery of high-quality images. They work closely with radiologists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to assist in the accurate diagnosis of medical conditions. The CT Tech must demonstrate excellent technical skills, attention to detail, and patient care throughout the scanning process.
Responsibilities:
  • Operate CT equipment and adjust settings to obtain high-quality images while adhering to established protocols.
  • Position patients correctly and provide appropriate instructions to ensure the desired scan area is captured.
  • Administer contrast media to patients as required, following proper protocols and guidelines.
  • Monitor patients during the scan, observing for any adverse reactions and responding promptly to any emergencies or complications.
  • Maintain accurate patient records, including relevant medical history, examination data, and imaging results.
  • Collaborate with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to review and interpret CT images, providing necessary information for accurate diagnosis.
  • Ensure compliance with radiation safety guidelines and protocols, maintaining a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
  • Perform routine maintenance and quality control checks on CT equipment, reporting any malfunctions or issues to the appropriate personnel.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in CT technology, techniques, and protocols through continuous education and professional development.
  • Uphold patient confidentiality and privacy in accordance with HIPAA regulations and institutional policies.
Qualifications:
  • MINIMUM of 1 YEAR EXPERIENCE IN CT SCAN RADIOLOGY REQUIRED
  • Associate degree or higher in Radiologic Technology or a related field.
  • Certification as a CT Technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • State licensure or certification as required by the state regulatory board.
  • Strong knowledge of CT imaging principles, anatomy, and physiology.
  • Proficiency in operating CT equipment and related software.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients, medical staff, and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to maintain accuracy in documentation and image acquisition.
  • Knowledge of radiation safety practices and the ability to adhere to regulatory guidelines.
