Title: Director of Religious Education

Overview

The Director of Religious Education will plan, integrate, implement, oversee, and evaluate the religious education/faith formation of the total Parish community.

Job Responsibilities

• Administer catechetical and sacramental preparation programs including Faith Formation in Grades preK-12, First Communion, High School Confirmation, Youth and Young Adult Faith Formation and Youth Groups, adult Faith enrichment, Adult Confirmation, Baptism preparation, Marriage preparation, and the OCIA and children's OCIA program.
• Assist the Pastor in planning Parish short and long-term goals regarding religious education and evangelization.
• Prepare and administer the total Faith Formation operating budgets in accordance with budget policies.
• Collaborate and communicate with the Pastor and other Parish ministries on an on-going basis regarding scheduling and promotion of events.
• Participates in monthly staff and liturgy meetings.
• Maintains organized and updated files for religious education families and sacramental preparation.
• Develop plans and implement for the recruitment and training of catechists and volunteers.
• Schedule regular catechist and volunteer meetings to encourage the development of a catechetical faith community.
• Assist catechists and volunteers with their certification requirements.
• Act as a liaison between the Parish and the Diocesan Office of Religious Education and Youth Ministry
• Attend Diocesan meetings related to Religious Education, Youth Ministry and Safe Environment Programs
• Maintain Sacramental Records.
• Maintain Safe Environment and volunteer records for all parish volunteers ensuring all volunteers are properly trained and certified in required Safe Environment procedures.

• Master's degree in religious education, Theology or Catechetics and Evangelization or equivalent
• Must be a practicing Roman Catholic
• 1 or more years of experience overseeing a religious education or faith formation program in a Parish setting.
• Excellent communications skills both written and oral
• Excellent organizational skills
• Ability to collaborate and maintain positive relationships with coworkers, families and children is essential.
