Position Summary

This editorial internship will cover the process of editing, developing, and publishing the Our Daily Bread (ODB) devotional, including some administrative tasks. Editorial Interns will participate in monthly evaluation of new ODB article submissions. This involves reading and editing short-form manuscripts for accuracy, organization, flow, appropriate style, sound biblical exegesis, clarity and conciseness of language, word choice, and appealing presentation using approved style guides. Editorial Interns will also assist in the complex processes related to the publication of ODB articles.

Duration: Summer 2024 (3 months) at 20 hours per week

Key Deliverables

• Edited Our Daily Bread devotion articles and devotional manuscripts
• Edited ODB Insight articles
• Edited ODB special edition articles and manuscripts
• Edited ODBM marketing or executive communications
• Edited ODBU course materials
• Several key administrative tasks (e.g., use Content Entry Tool, distribute monthly readers comments).
• Create and present a flowchart that illustrates the journey of an ODB article through the various stages in the editorial process and publishing process.

Skills and Qualifications

1. Must be a junior or senior at a four-year college or university, preferably in English, Publishing, Journalism, or related education.
2. Must possess superior communication skills, both written and verbal.
3. Must possess superior knowledge of English grammar and spelling.
4. Working knowledge of the Bible is preferred.
5. Must be detail-oriented and meticulously compliant with set procedures.
6. Familiar with Chicago Manual of Style, 17th ed.
7. Possess basic computer skills in Microsoft Word and the Internet, including Google Docs and Gmail. It is helpful to be familiar with databases and programs such as Excel.
8. Possess cultural awareness and sensitivity working within a global organization.
9. Ability to work remotely.
10. Strive to live a life consistent with biblical principles and demonstrate continued growth and spiritual development.
