Ouachita Childrens Center is Hiring a Shelter Manager Near Hot Springs, AR

Shift Available for evening/weekend shift.

The Shelter Manager works with the Residential Services Director, Case Management Director and Facilities Manager and reports to the Residential Services Director. The Shelter Manager provides leadership and acts as an excellent role model for all Direct Care Staff to ensure the highest level of care and positive support for shelter residents. The Shelter Manager is directing responsible for the training and oversight of Direct Care Staff.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensures that emergency shelter care is performed according to OCYFS's mission, policies & procedures, funding performance indicators, and OCYFS's vision and beliefs.
  • Identifies training needs for direct care staff & coordinates and documents individual training.
  • Trains and mentors all new and veteran direct care staff as needed.
  • Participates in interviews for all potential new direct care staff as scheduled by the Residential Services Director.
  • Ensures proper medication administration and documentation.
  • Reviews direct care staff client file & log documentation for timely entries & adequate information.
  • Ensures organization and adequate inventory of expendable supplies and notifies the appropriate staff member of any needs.
  • Monitors cleanliness, organization & functionality of all shelter areas, furnishings & equipment.
  • Conducts and assists with client intakes and discharges as needed in addition to checking the completion of closed out files.
  • Attends and assists with client activities as needed and in cooperation and coordination with the Residential Services Director.
  • Accepts and documents shelter donations as needed.
  • Assists with the supervision, care, and safety of shelter residents during routine shifts.
  • Participates in weekly shelter client staff meeting to share & learn information about individual clients.
  • Participates in agency performance quality improvement and serves on assigned committees.
  • Assists with the development of a yearly plan that supports OCYFS's long-term strategic goals.
  • Reviews performance quality improvement reports to identify areas of needed improvement and participates in developing and implementing solutions to improve the quality of services.
  • Participates in on-call rotation as scheduled by the Case Management Director.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:


Minimum Education and Experience:

  • Associate Degree in a related field plus on year's experience in managing a child care facility or a High School Diploma/GED and three years experience in managing a child care facility.
  • Pass a drug screen and maintain a current TB card.
  • Must have a current Arkansas Driver's license and insurable under OCYFS's commercial vehicle insurance policy.
  • Must receive child maltreatment clearance through the Arkansas Child Maltreatment Central Registry.
  • Must receive adult maltreatment clearance through Arkansas Protective Services-Adult Maltreatment Central Registry.
  • Must receive Arkansas State Police criminal background clearance as mandated by Arkansas Department of Human Services, Minimum Licensing Standards for Child Welfare Agencies.

    • Demonstrates cultural sensitivity to OCYFS's clients and families.
