POSITION TITLE: Prime Time Youth Care Program, Lead Support Staff

REPORTS TO: Director of Elementary Education

Prime Time Youth Care Support Staff seeks energetic individuals to work with children (PK-6^th grade) after school, before school, early release days and non-school days (including summers). Good leadership skills needed, as well as being willing and able to manage a group of children in activities assisgned. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Supervise elementary-age students as requested by director/assistant director
• Participate with children in group games, arts and crafts, enrichment activities, tutorial activities, field trips
• Interact with all children
• Enforce site/room safety rules
• Intervene when children are likely to injure themselves or each other
• Be present in the child care room at all times
• Opening and closing the site
• Managing students, breakfast and bus duty
• Assist in the maintenance program materials as requested by the director/assistant director
• Report to the director/assistant director immediately any injuries, difficult or inappropriate child behavior, or broken equipment. Be prepared to document incident for site records if necessary.
• Six hours of professional growth are required annually. Provide director with appropriate documentation for employee files. Course work can be done in the following areas: education, child development, youth care, health, and safety.
• Assist in the supervision of emergency drills as needed. In the event of an emergency, all staff will remain on site until all children are released to their parents.
• Follow all school and board policies of the Ottumwa Community School District.
• View required Blood Borne Pathogen and Hazardous Chemical videos.
• Other duties as assigned

PREPARATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS

• High school diploma and/or advanced schooling is preferred
• Child care experience or education preferred
• Enjoy working with children
• Ability to take direction
• Varied hours per week

• No later than 6pm, no evenings/weekends
• Commitment of working Monday-Friday

Salary and work year as established by the Board or by the collective bargaining agreement if such exists.
