Business Analyst

OtterSoft is hiring, for a Business Analyst, ideally with a background in the healthcare industry. This position will be responsible for participating in software development efforts, acting as a liaison between IT and business units to gather, understand, and clearly document functionality in the form of user stories.

Responsibilities

• Analyze business process and/or problems and enhance productivity by providing clearly worded business requirements (stories) that describe the optimal way to solve the problem or accomplish the goal.
• Participate effectively in an agile software development environment and lifecycle.
• Manage a full range of work breakdown activities to assure understanding of the underlying business logic.
• Map out business processes, document inputs, outputs, roles, and rules in enough detail to allow functional replication.
• Facilitate user-originated request by listening to stakeholders, understanding underlying (and unspoken needs and be able to restate their needs to assure understanding.
• Quickly become a subject-matter expert in each area you are analyzing and understand business unit needs.
• Assemble and attach all pertinent supporting documentation or date to the appropriate stories in the issue tracking system.
• Participate in development projects to successfully implement internal web applications to provide CRM-like functionality.
• Act as a team player/self-starter with the ability to analyze tasks, work independently, and to drive projects to completion.
• Document subject-matter knowledge, expertise, and process in a centralized knowledge repository (wiki). Manage the wiki.

Job Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in the technology field or equivalent experience in web application development OR will consider 3 years of professional experience (helping build web applications using various development tools and platforms and basic understanding of development concepts)

• Experience with Vendor Management Systems and Time Sheets Systems
• Must exhibit technical leadership and have experience with, process improvement, conflict resolution, and motivating people.
• Keen attention to detail with proven analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving abilities. Ability to multi-task; excellent organizational and planning skills required.
• Ability to interact with tact and diplomacy with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and organizational levels.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal; ability to communicate complex technical solutions in simple terms to users is essential, as well as interact in a professional manner with colleagues, users, managers and key stakeholders.
• Excellent presentation skills
• Experience in or interest in technical project management.
• Demonstrable skill and experience in helping build solutions with web-based technologies.
• Desire to work in a fast-paced delivery-focused environment.
• Ability to manage multiple initiatives while meeting scope, schedule, and quality requirements.
• Professional, flexible, adaptable, and accepting change.
• Ability to self-study and get-up-to-speed quickly on new technologies and packages.
• Ability to accept responsibility and account for his/her actions.
• Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly.
• Ability to use troubleshooting skills and reasoning to solve complex problems.
• Ability to act calmly under stress and strain, and not be hasty or impetuous.
• Experience in Health Care preferred but not required.
• Experience working with external stakeholders preferred.
• Educational background in Business Analysis and / or Project Management preferred.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $82,000.00 - $108,000.00 per year
