Date Posted: 2022-06-24-07:00 Country: United States of America Location: OT494: 5FS - Farmington, CT 5 Farm Springs, Farmington, CT, 06032 USA THE POSITION Associate Director, Program Management - Farmington In a time of exciting transformation for Otis, continuing the company’s path of change, our Engineering organization is hiring an Associate Director, Program Management within our Farmington Lead Design Center (LDC). In this role, you will hold these main responsibilities: ensure execution success on product deliveries, advance the engineering program management processes, tools, and methods, and provide guidance and mentorship of a growing team. This is an exciting leadership opportunity to work across key Lead Design Centers globally to design, build and implement forward leaning, agile processes with broad visibility. This individual will lead the local Program Management team in Farmington, CT and provide strong influence and support role to the global Program Management team. Additionally, this person will support and partner with each of the local functional areas (Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, Purchasing, etc.) to integrate technical knowledge (both industry and internal best practices and standards) to assure successful new product execution and launch. Location: Farmington, CT Reports to: Senior Director, LDC- Farmington Engineering KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES PROGRAM LEADERSHIP & EXECUTION Actively manage, be a hands-on leader, and drive programs in conjunction with the global PMO team to accomplish the R&D business priorities Ensure customer requirements are documented, understood, assessed, and integrated into the Program Management Plan (PMP), Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) and appropriate budgets are assigned to complete all tasks to deliver the requirements Lead cross-portfolio governance including goals= setting, dashboard and KPI management, prioritization decisions, and budget Ensure the development teams are practicing the principles of collaboration, prioritization, team accountability, and visibility. Facilitate and ensure optimal execution against the plan and consistency with the Otis product development and commercialization processes Partner with cross-functional team members to address tactical release issues, dependencies, team status, production issues, metrics review, milestones Intervene as necessary on high-risk programs to ensure timely resolution of issues, and business objectives are successfully achieved Lead executive reviews of program status and escalation events DEVELOP TALENT Provide training, coaching and guidance to program managers to support individual development plans Provide leadership and mentorship to technical leads and program teams Participate in succession planning for management positions and in the recruitment and/or development of new talent for positions Support PMO in providing systems, tools, training, and strategic planning for effective and efficient program management ESTABLISH AND IMPROVE PROGRAM MANAGEMENT PROCESS, SYSTEMS AND TOOLS Responsible for creating, facilitating, leading, and promoting Otis new product development process (PDP) including scope, risk, communication, resource, and timeline planning techniques throughout Product Development, to ensure timely, quality completion of projects and achievement of forecasted targets Initiate improvements to enhance the efficiency and the quality of the work performed on assigned projects Audit standards, processes, and procedures to drive for uniformity throughout the functions and regions to assure conformance to standards ALIGN STRATEGIC PORTFOLIO Ensure that the portfolio plans and recommendations are aligned with strategic priorities and maximize value Lead and participate in strategic business plan discussions to establish a flexible and agile plan for resource utilization in a dynamically changing environment Engage effectively with business leaders to sustain value and increase governance efficiency using best practices THE PERSON The Associate Director, Program Management is a critical position that requires a passionate, driven leader who will assess and align the strengths of their team across the needs of the business. This includes aligning resources, prioritizing strategies, establishing targets, and implementing initiatives that support the broader business strategy. Otis is looking for a mature leader with a strong collaborative, global mindset working with a diverse mix of technology and products. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering 15 years of experience in engineering or related technical position with at least 7 years of experience in a managerial capacity and Program Management Experience in managing multiple programs/projects in a global and complex engineering environment Requires a high level of proven business acumen, operational experience, and both fundamental and hands on expertise in the areas of portfolio management, process design and implementation Proven ability to assess business needs, identify key vendors and negotiate productive working relationships with suppliers. Proven management track record of success in leading groups in electro-mechanical device and related components in manufacturing environments and connected platforms Experience in executing programs using Agile techniques, methodologies Preferred Qualifications Advanced Degree in Engineering or MBA Professional Program Manager (PgMP) certification COMPENSATION To attract the right individual, Otis is prepared to offer a competitive compensation package, which will include a base salary and cash bonus, as well as long-term incentives.
