• Responsible to schedule and pre-cert tests, lab studies, supplies and medications as required. Updates pre-cert information in Athena EMR, keeping the physician, patient, facility and insurance company aware of any changes
• Obtain surgical consent in collaboration with the physician.
• Obtain Insurance Authorizations from insurance companies.
• Review with patients all pre and post-operative surgery instructions according to service-specific guidelines such as how long surgery is expected to take, what must be done prior to surgery, what time the patient needs to arrive on the date of service etc.
• Resolve patient problems or refer them to appropriate resources for resolution.
• Acts as a telephone liaison for patient's questions.
• Establishes and maintains interpersonal relationships with patients and hospital personnel while assuring the confidentiality of patient information.
• Maintains knowledge of other non-clinical positions to assist in coverage when short-staffed or caught up with primary responsibilities.
• Maintains open lines of communication with other non-clinical, clinical, physician and administrative personnel.
• Obtain Physical Therapy benefits and authorizations.
• Perform other duties as required.
