Description
JOB GOALS: Provide leadership to increase student learning and achievement by cooperating with principals, professional staff, paraprofessional staff and central office administrators in the areas of:
  • Standards-based curriculum
  • Instructional delivery
  • Assessment practices
  • Grading and reporting strategies
  • Gifted and Talented
  • Communication among all stakeholders
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Wisconsin Teacher Certification to teach one or more of the grade levels and content areas grades 6-12.
2. Five years of classroom teaching experience.
3. Expertise in one or more of the core academic content areas: reading, language arts, mathematics, science or social studies.
4. Expertise in research based "best" instructional practices in one or more of the core content areas (reading, language arts, mathematics, science and social studies).
5. Expertise in strategies for differentiating classroom instruction in the regular classroom to meet the diverse learning needs of all students including students designated GT, ELL and Special Education.
6. Expertise in curriculum design, development, and implementation.
7. Expertise in the identification of and education of students identified as gifted and/or talented.
8. Successful experience meeting the educational needs of students identified as GT.
9. Expertise in the strategies, processes, implementation and facilitation of educator professional development.
10. Strong communication skills and effective leadership skills in working collaboratively and effectively with other professionals.
11. Experience providing educational leadership.
12. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Curriculum Development
2. Provide curriculum and instructional leadership, coordination, and support in all content areas
3. Lead and support the implementation of curriculum and instruction tailored to the needs of identified GT students
4. Maintain consistency and alignment of K-12 academic standards and grade level benchmarks
5. Lead necessary changes to programs based on data-driven improvement plans and goal setting
6. Work collaboratively with department chairs and teachers to coordinate the adoption of instructional materials Instruction and Delivery
7. Research and facilitate the implementation of innovative subject-specific programs, effective instructional practices, and technology
8. Collaborate with professional staff to identify and meet the academic, social, and emotional needs of GT students
9. Collaborate with professional staff to meet the needs of all students through differentiation
10. Support staff and students through professional and core teams
11. Plan and implement ongoing, meaningful staff development opportunities to improve student learning
Assessment Practices
  • Facilitate the design and implementation of common assessments in all content areas
  • Work with teachers to develop and use balanced classroom assessment
Grading and Reporting
  • Support the development of standards-based grading and reporting strategies that effectively and accurately communicate student academic achievement and character education
  • Facilitate the revision of grading and reporting systems when necessary
Communication with all stakeholders
  • Identify and provide community connections for GT students and parents
  • Organize and serve as a member of various building and district committees
  • Serve as community resource for GT, smaller learning communities, and district initiatives
