OrthoTexas Physicians and Surgeons, PLLC is Hiring a Radiology Technologist I Near Denton, TX

Description

Schedule: Mondays and Wednesdays from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., and Fridays from 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. 

Job Summary: The daily tasks of a x-ray technologist require precise work and attention to detail as well as adherence to strict safety procedures. Many times, physicians will confer with technologists in the evaluation process of a patient’s condition. Although x-ray technologists are required to be knowledgeable in all terminology related with radiography, anatomy, pathology, etc., a professional technologist will also possess strong interpersonal skills. A large part of the job requires giving instructions to patients who may be a bit nervous with the various radiography procedures. Technologist will give straight-forward instructions as well as foster a sense of comfort and confidence to patients. As this is a 1 physician office, the X-ray Technician also assists with Medical Assisting duties, to include rooming patients, drawing injections, turning rooms over, learning the EMR system. A complete Team member 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The essential duties of the position include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Key Functions:

  • Positioning patients for imaging exams.
  • Monitoring patients during exams.
  • Documenting information with computers.
  • Reporting important information to the physician.
  • Explaining procedures to patients and answering questions.
  • Preparing equipment for use as needed.
  • Preparing examination rooms for patient rooms.
  • Ensuring safety of patients during exams.
  • Identifies patient service requirements by establishing personal rapport with potential and actual patients and other persons in a position to understand service requirements.
  • Ensures operation of radiology equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; maintaining equipment inventories; evaluating new equipment and techniques.
  • Complies with federal, state, and local legal and professional requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Gains patient cooperation by reducing anxieties; providing explanations of treatment; answering questions.
  • Prepares patient for radiological procedure by positioning patient; adjusting immobilization devices; moving equipment into specified position; adjusting equipment controls to set exposure factors.
  • Minimizes radiation to patient and staff by practicing radiation protection techniques, using beam restrictive devices, patient shielding, and knowledge of exposure factors.
  • Maintains production and quality of radiographs by following established standards and procedures; observing radiographic results; making necessary adjustments.
  • Documents patient care services by charting in patient and/or department records.
  • Contributes to an overall positive work atmosphere through actions and attitude.
  • Participates in office meetings and educational activities. Assumes responsibility and accountability for maintaining and improving radiologic knowledge and skills.
  • Maintains work area in neat and orderly manner.
  • Complies with HIPAA procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience: Minimum of a Associates’ degree and graduated from an accredited school.
