Representative duties
  • Provide outstanding customer service to all patients
  • Review guarantor balances and discuss payment and financial hardship options with patients
  • Answer patient calls regarding account questions, concerns or complaints
  • Answer insurance and billing questions for patients and staff
  • Contact patients regarding current balances prior to appointments
  • Obtain and process payments made by phone and payments made in person
  • Review accounts for follow up action needed
Knowledge And Skill Requirements
  • Basic knowledge of CPT and ICD-9 coding
  • Basic collection experience
  • Knowledge of billing procedures
  • Knowledge and understanding of HIPAA rules and regulations
  • Knowledge of primary and secondary coordination of insurance benefits
  • Able to understand and explain EOBs
  • Able to work in an integrated team that includes claims processing, payment posting, collections and pre-certification
Required Qualifications
  • One (1) year of medical office experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent
Preferred (in Addition To Required) Qualifications
  • One (1) year financial counseling in an orthopedic office
