### Job Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Billing and Collection Agent to join our personal injury department. As a Billing and Collection Agent, you will be responsible for managing, negotiating and collecting outstanding payments from law offices. Your role will involve utilizing your knowledge of medical coding systems, medical billing, and medical records to ensure accurate and timely collection of payments.
### Responsibilities:
- Contact law offices to negotiate and collect outstanding payments
- Review and analyze medical records and invoices
- Utilize medical coding systems (such as ICD-10) to accurately code diagnoses and procedures
- Verify that all patient and law office information are accurate on each file
- Professionally communicate with law offices via telephone and email correspondence
- Maintain accurate records of all collection activities with the use of Excel logs
- Provide excellent customer service while handling sensitive financial matters
### Skills:
- Proficient in medical terminology, coding systems, and billing procedures
- Strong knowledge of medical collection practices and regulations
- Familiarity with EMR systems
- Proficient in Microsoft Office software
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Ability to work independently and meet collection targets
- Attention to detail and accuracy in record keeping
- Strong problem-solving skills to resolve billing discrepancies
- Experience in Personal Injury cases a plus
- Experience in pain management office a plus
