Orthopaedic Institute of Southern Illinois is Hiring a Podiatry Midlevel Provider (NP) Near Herrin, IL

Summary

A certified nurse practitioner (NP) referenced as a Midlevel Provider) provides health care services to patients under the direction and responsible supervision of a podiatrist. Midlevel providers are academically and clinically trained to perform many of the routine but time-consuming tasks that physicians usually do and are accountable for their own actions as well as being accountable to their supervising physicians.

Essential Functions

1. Examines patient, takes medical history, records results, and makes preliminary diagnosis or decides on follow-up procedures.

2. Administers or orders diagnostic tests such as X-rays, electrocardiograms, and blood work, and interprets test results.

3. Diagnose, manage, and prescribe medications for patients who are undergoing foot or ankle problems, or surgery meant to address foot or ankle traumas. Develops and implements patient care plans, instructs, and counsels patients, and records progress.

4. Assists physician, as required, for emergency treatment, surgeries, and more complex procedures.

Required Education & Experience

Nurse practitioners must earn a master's degree from an accredited program. State accreditation based on certifying exam. Always maintains regulatory requirements and patient confidentiality.

Qualifications

1. Demonstrates competency in the knowledge of the delivery of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.

2. Knowledge of utilizing an electronic health record.

3. Knowledgeable of various insurance plans, third party payers.

4. Knowledge of community agencies, social service agencies, etc.

Skills:

1. Skill in gathering and analyzing physiological, socioeconomic, and emotional patient data.

2. Skill in accurately evaluating patient problems in person or via phone and providing appropriate advice, intervention, or referral.

3. Skill in evaluating and revising care plans based on patient changes.

4. Skill in patient safety and infection control procedures.
