Orthomerica Products, Inc. is Hiring an Extremities Technician Near Orlando, FL

JOB SUMMARY:

The CUSTOM TO CAST EXTREMITIES TECHNICIAN reads and interprets extremity work orders and fabricates custom extremity orthoses.

Shift: M-F 9:30 AM - 6:00 PM

Pay: $16.00 - 18.00 per hour

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Prepare, fill and modify casts to proper configuration using plaster of Paris and shaping tools as assigned by Supervisor.

2. Document & inform Supervisor if questions arise for customer during fabrication.

3. Quality inspect finished extremities prior to Final Quality Inspection. Empowered to reject any completed products that do not meet our standards.

4. Work closely with Final Inspector to ensure 4:30 grounds and 7:30 standard shipments are being processed in a timely fashion.

5. Notify Supervisor of any Mis-Shipments.

6. Available to work a minimum of 45 hours per week. The ability to work overtime is considered an essential job requirement.

7. Familiar with blood borne pathogens protection procedures.

8. Ability to read, write and understand English language

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBLITIES:

1. Develop inspection criteria for custom extremities to include measurement specifications, as well as cosmetic and quality acceptance.

2. QC other finished Custom to Cast products as assigned by leads. Leads will provide inspection criteria.

3. Assign personnel re-do or modification work as necessary.

4. Follow up with complicated or special orders throughout the day to ensure timely shipment.

5. Prepare Material Requisitions

6. May perform additional duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

VISUAL REQUIREMENTS:

Required to have a close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: operating machines such as lathes, drill presses, power saws and mills where the seeing job is at or within arm’s reach; performing mechanical or skilled trades tasks of a non-repetitive nature such as ones by carpenters, technicians, service, people, plumbers, painters, mechanics, etc.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

  • Subject to inside environmental conditions: Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
  • Subject to noise: There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level.
  • Subject to vibrations: Exposure to oscillating movements of the extremities or whole body.
  • Subject to atmospheric hazards: Includes variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electric current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.
  • Subject to atmospheric conditions: One or more of the following conditions that affect the respiratory system of the skin: Fumes, odor, dust, mists, gases, or poor ventilations.
  • Subject to oils: There is air and/or skin exposure to oils and other cutting fluids.
  • Required to function in narrow aisles and passageways.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1. High School Diploma.

2. Works well with hands.

3. Must have basic knowledge of human anatomy and medical terminology.

4. Familiar with types of orthoses, function, and their use.

5. Familiar with types of plastic and working characteristics.

6. Knowledge of thermoforming both vacuums and drape molding techniques.

7. Familiar with trimming, sanding, and finishing equipment used to fabricate orthopedic products.

8. Professional ethics, tact, and courtesy when dealing with anyone inside or outside of the company.
