Job Purpose:
 
The CNA is responsible for the delivery of optimum quality care to patients while in the Care Suite Program.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assists with treatments ordered by physician and supervised by a Registered Nurse (RN) and/or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).

• Assists patients with tending to personal care, hygiene and activities of daily living

• Coordinates with medical professionals from other departments regarding the patient’s condition

• Reports findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions immediately to nursing staff.

• Assists the RN/LPN with taking vital signs and reporting any abnormal findings immediately

• Assists with keeping patient rooms clean and orderly

• Assists with transfers and ambulation of patients, utilizing gait belts and assistive devices and appropriate transfer technique

• Assists with room turnover for patient discharges and admissions

• Assists with meal preparation

• Assists with office administrative tasks

• Assists with managing supplies

• All other duties as assigned

Education and Experience Requirements:

• High School diploma/GED or equivalent

• CNA certification

• Maintain status on Nursing Assistant Registry

• 3-5 years of surgical floor nursing assistance experience preferred

• Current CPR certification is required or completed upon hire 

Environmental/Working Conditions: 

Working environment is a care suite environment. Position may also be exposed to occupational hazards, bloodborne pathogens, as communicable disease. Consistent work hours outside of normal business hours including evenings and overnights.

Physical/Mental Demands:

• Stand, walk, sit for extended periods of time

• Sit, stoop, and kneel

• Excellent vision, hearing, smell, and balance

• Requires lifting, carrying, or moving heavier objects (i.e. pushing or pulling up to 100 pounds and lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds

• Possess full range of motion in shoulders and arms, including reaching above or below the shoulder.
