Description
The Orthopedic Medical Assistant will assist Provider(s) during clinic in assigned location. The Medical Assistant performs a variety of direct and indirect patient care activities such as escort patients to exam room; assist them with dressing/undressing as needed; Review all Registration items in EMR. Obtain necessary forms from Patients; Collect data and accurately input data into all Intake sections of EMR; Prepare physician’s Surgical Orders and create orders for XR, DME, labs, etc., when appropriate. Schedule Labs, Diagnostic Tests, etc. Obtain results of lab and diagnostic testing. Obtain medical clearance for surgeries if applicable. The Medical Assistant is responsible for Patient Call Backs on messages, prescriptions and referrals and reviews and responds to all items in personal and MD ‘buckets’. The Medical Assistant should understand the basics of proper fitting and instructions of soft goods, bracing and all other DME products dispensed at clinics when DME Representative is out of office.
