Radiologic Technologist, OPA Lake Otis, [PRN]

Salary Range: $26.41-$47.84 hourly

Your Role at OPA:

As a Radiologic Technologist at OPA you will perform high quality radiological exams in a safe and welcoming environment for patients.

What You’ll Do:

  • Prepare patients for radiologic procedures. Protect patient, self, and other staff from radiation hazards. Take X-rays and other radiological images following established procedures for patient care and safety, which involve setting up and operating radiographic equipment used in the medical diagnosis and/or treatment of patients and includes implementing infection control procedures for the work area. Select proper ionizing factors for radiological diagnosis. Adjust/set radiographic controls. Positions patients and take diagnostic images of specific parts of the patient’s body as requested by physicians. Process image. Check image for clarity, retaking when needed. Distribute or transmit image to appropriate medical staff.
  • Properly operate and assist providers in the use of Large C-arm and Mini C-arm including increasing and decreasing densities and contrast, reducing dose exposure, increasing dose exposure for image quality, printing images, transferring images to OPA PACS system, and operating under ALARA during each exam.
  • Download images from CD, pull up images on PACS and label downloaded images onto OPA PACS system as required or needed.
  • Aid and assist providers and staff during pain and OR procedures, including patient positioning that demonstrate the best anatomy, moving radiology equipment, providing radiation protective devices and complying with ALARA and provider standards and preferences.
  • Properly position patients for flat plate X-Rays while using portable machine.
  • Recognize which scheduled exams require radiology; order and aide in those exams and exams used for portable X-Rays, and perform according to planned and/or emergency situations.
  • Demonstrate diplomacy and tact in interpersonal interactions with patients, management, nursing staff and physicians.
  • Maintain required records including patient records, daily log books, and monthly reports.
  • Clean, maintain, and make minor adjustments to radiographic equipment, including determining equipment repairs. Perform quantity and quality control checks to assure X-ray unit meets standards required by laws, rules, and departmental policies. Comply with safety standards.
  • Maintain radiographic supplies, film, and orders as necessary, stock OR room and storage units, clean C-arm and mini C-arm and return portable machine to end of day storage location. Assist with patient turn over and recovery room turn over, communicate nightly with management for that day's schedule.
  • Other duties as needed or assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • One (1) year experience as X-ray technologist;
  • Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist
  • Associates degree in radiological technology from accredited X-ray technologist program

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Three (3) years’ experience as a Radiology Technologist in either OR or medical practice setting
