Ortega Counseling Center seeks a full-time Vocational Counselor for our Whittier office. At OCC, our purpose is clear: helping injured workers improve their lives through education.
OCC focuses on retraining individuals who have experienced work-related injuries, providing the finest vocational counseling for both Spanish and English-speaking clients. The Vocational Counselor will play a vital role in client acquisitions, progress tracking, and completion of training programs, whether conducted in-person or remotely across Los Angeles County and surrounding areas. Reporting to the Operations Manager and Upper Management, this position's primary responsibility is to assist in various aspects of the vocational effort while upholding our core values.
Primary Duties:

• Coordinate the vocational training program to reintegrate injured workers into the workforce.
• Conduct client requirements meetings, both in-person and off-site.
• Research training programs, coordinate participation, and monitor the success of injured workers throughout the program.
• Provide exceptional follow-up customer service, including frequent calls and task follow-ups.
• Regularly evaluate accounts and maintain consistent communication via email and phone.
• Ensure timely completion of projects and manage them efficiently.
• Generate daily and weekly update reports.
• Act as a liaison in the rehabilitation process.
• Meet with injured workers/participants to process documents when necessary.

Position Requirements:

• B.S., B.A., in vocational evaluation, special education, behavioral psychology, or related field preferred, or equivalent 3 years of industry-related experience required.
• Preference for candidates with Workers’ Compensation experience.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational and follow-up abilities.
• Proficiency in desktop computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
• Experience in case management preferred.
• Comfortable communicating with clients both over the phone and in person.
• Ability to work Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, with a 30-minute lunch break.
• Ability to remain patient in a fast-paced environment.
• Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is required.
