Orleans Central Supervisory Union is seeking a certified high school teacher/special educator to coordinate the in-school alternative program for grades 9-12 students with social and emotional needs. Foundations is a mostly self-contained, school-based program that provides support from a special educator and related service providers while offering classes taught by other certified teachers. An important component of this program is hands-on activities and access to the outdoors, as well as getting students involved in the community and school as a whole. Through these activities, the program seeks to teach students self-regulation skills, while helping them gain the skills to be successful after high school.Applicants must have experience and skill with social/emotional learning, differentiating curriculum, collaboration with general education teachers and service providers, and familiarity/experience implementing positive behavior intervention plans.
A growth mindset is necessary. It is preferred that applicants be certified (or eligible for certification) in both a content area (English, Math, Science, or Social Studies) and Special Education. Successful candidates will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to manage/supervise staff, and expertise in data collection.The Orleans Central Supervisory Union is comprised of two school districts (Lake Region Union Elementary-Middle School and Lake Region Union High School) supporting six K-8 elementary schools, the Orleans Central Early Childhood Program, and Lake Region Union High School.Orleans Central Supervisory Union is located in the heart of the Northeast Kingdom which is known for scenic and rugged area of hills, sugarbushes, farmland and lakes.
