Department Overview

Designated acute care unit for all trauma/surgical ventilated patients. 13A provides care to adolescent through geriatric patients ranging from 16-100 who have a variety of diagnoses, which require medical /surgical interventions and recovery for Trauma related conditions. This population may include, but are not limited to: injuries related to motor vehicle accidents, including moderate to severe traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries. gunshot and stab wounds; traumatic amputations; limb reattachments; multisystem trauma; spine surgery fracture repair, sport related injuries and interpersonal and intrapersonal violence, mental health disturbances. It is the overflow for Orthopedics, General Surgery, Neurosurgery, and Plastics.

Function/Duties of Position

Hiring Bonus up to $10,000 DOE and Relocation Package Available. Must begin work by March 31, 2024 to qualify. 

$49.16-$78.18 per hour, based on RN Degree and level of experience

Required Qualifications

Minimum requirements for all Nurses:

• BSN Graduates: Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from a program accredited by Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (CNEA) 30 days before start date. 
• ADN Graduates: Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited program 30 days before the start date.
  • Associate degree Nurses required to enroll in BSN program within 3 years of hire and complete within 5 years of hire 
• Internal ONA applicants: Associate Degree in Nursing; BSN preferred 
• Current, unencumbered Oregon State Registered Nurse License 
• BLS at time of hire and must be issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) or Military Training Network branch of AHA (upload documentation with online application) 
• BLS must not expire during orientation
• Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation 

Department Specific Requirements:

• 2-years of current nursing experience in adult acute care, adult intermediate care, and/or emergency department observation.
• BLS must not expire during Orientation.

Transition to Practice (TTP) Program Individualized Orientation tailored to applicant's needs:

Our learning program is unique. You will receive a fellowship program tailored to your development needs for this specialty; which could be for 3 weeks and up to six months.

Transition to hired shift may be delayed for a temporary reassignment due to individual development needs and skill mix of the employees on the unit or the hires shift at any given time.
