Oregon Health & Science University is Hiring a Certified Nurse-Midwife Instructor (Per Diem) - Marquam Hill Near Portland, OR

Department Overview

SON faculty members who have advanced practice specialization (nurse practitioner, nurse-midwife, clinical nurse specialist or nurse anesthetist) may function in all of the missions of the School. Scholarly teaching is an expectation for all. The faculty member must be nationally certified and state licensed. If practice is a part of the FTE assignment, the faculty member must also be credentialed and privileged as a member of the OHSU Professional Staff in accordance with the specialty bylaws. The faculty member will provide services as determined by the Associate Dean for Practice Graduate and Clinical Programs in furtherance of the university’s missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach and public service. The advanced practice faculty member is expected to comply with scope of practice, other laws, regulations, OHSU and SON policy, and other applicable professional standards of practice.

Multiple positions are available.

Function/Duties of Position

Clinical Activities

  • Practice that emanates from the School of Nursing is expected to support the teaching and research missions of the School.
  • In the practice environment, teaching occurs concurrently with clinical activities. Specific duties include:
    • Provide supplementary coverage of labor and delivery call when the permanent faculty are ill, in retreat, traveling professionally, on vacation or on leave.
    • The primary expectation is the provision of clinical midwifery services to patients in the faculty practice.

Education Activities

  • Clinical education and supervision of graduate nurse-midwifery student in the provision of the services to patients in faculty practices.
  • Midwifery students are with on call faculty 90% of the time.

Service Activities

  • These activities could include faculty meetings, committee membership, professional activities and other responsibilities as assigned by the Program Director.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Master’s Degree

Experience

  • At least one (1) year of practice in full scope midwifery

Licensure

  • ACNM or ACC certification as a nurse-midwife
  • Oregon RN license
  • Oregon nurse midwifery license
  • Current CPR card required.
