Oregon Health & Science University is Hiring an Associate Director, Faculty compensation Near Portland, OR

Department Overview

The OHSU Associate Director of Faculty Compensation, in the Office of the Provost, is a key leadership

position responsible for ensuring the OHSU Faculty Compensation Plan is consistently implemented for the faculty members across the institution in their clinical, education, research, and administrative roles in support of OHSU’s strategic goals. This will be accomplished by: i) ensuring appropriate implementation of the OHSU Faculty Compensation Plan; ii) supporting faculty compensation administration and plan development; iii) managing inquiries and appeals related to the implementation of the Faculty Compensation Plan; iv) implementing and integrating compensation processes with associated business processes across all organization mission areas; v) collaborating with appropriate units to ensure business systems appropriately support the OHSU Faculty Compensation Plan; and vi) providing support to the OHSU Faculty Compensation Committee. This position reports to the Executive Vice Provost with a dotted line report to Director, Compensation in Human Resources.

These responsibilities will include planning, implementation, and management of faculty compensation and incentive processes in a complex, matrixed academic health center. This position requires close collaboration with leaders in the various schools, research centers and institutes, human resources, legal, finance, information technology, and other related units to implement efficient and scalable business process that are well understood.

Function/Duties of Position

Lead OHSU faculty compensation plan development and administration

  • Ensure faculty compensation is aligned accurately with the OHSU Faculty Compensation Plan.
  • Develop and oversee reliable, timely, and efficient processes for managing faculty compensation arrangements.
  • Ensure processes and procedures necessary for the administration of OHSU Faculty Compensation Plan are well understood by all stake holders.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for the organization related to faculty compensation.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for the organization regarding rules, regulations, standards, and emerging trends impacting compensation arrangements including relevant fair market value regulations.
  • Oversee inquiries and appeals as they relate to the OHSU Faculty Compensation Plan.

Implementing and integrating compensation processes with associated business processes

  • This position requires communication and coordination with senior management across the enterprise including leadership in the various schools, research centers and institutes, human resources, legal, finance, information technology, and other departments as needed.
  • Serves as a business process expert on institution-wide faculty compensation matter.
  • Serves as the subject matter expert for school administrators managing faculty compensation.
  • Is responsible for planning, developing, and implementing processes and procedures related to institution faculty compensation policies and methodologies.
  • Partners with Information Technology teams, as the faculty compensation subject matter expert, to jointly develop and maintain systems that facilitate ongoing faculty compensation processes and procedures.
  • Serves as a primary point of contact in collaborating with the IT Business Intelligence team on the development of faculty compensation and productivity analytical and benchmarking tools.

Ongoing process evolution and change management

  • Provide direction, support and guidance for the ongoing analysis and management of the faculty compensation plan.
  • Support educational needs and answering questions regarding changes to compensation methodologies and/or regulations.
  • Prepare feasibility studies on the implementation of compensation plan changes including recommendations as to the feasibility and impact of proposed changes.
  • Responsible for communications and education sessions for department, divisional, and sectional administrative leadership regarding all compensation plan changes.
  • Provide compensation plan expertise in business process integration, operation and communication efforts related to faculty compensation.
  • Partner with clinical operational leadership to identify best practice improvements that align with provider and payer incentives.

Required Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration or a related field.

Experience:

  • At least six years of progressive experience in an academic or academic health center setting.
  • At least five years of people management experience required.
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation.

  • Prior experience using nationally published compensation surveys
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with all levels within the organization.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities while prioritizing and meeting tight deadlines.
  • People-focused and ability to interact professionally with senior leadership, and faculty members.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of information.

Preferred Qualifications

Education:

  • Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration or a related field.

Experience:

  • At least seven years of management experience involving management of staff, budgets, and faculty compensation administration.

Job Related Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of health professional billing including an understanding of CPT codes, wRVUs and billing systems and processe.

Additional Details

The majority of work will be performed in an office setting; position may involve travel within the Portland metro area and exposure to laboratory environments; Monday-Friday, day shift
