ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Provide a positive learning environment for the athletes
  • Conduct practices that place emphasis on the importance of teamwork, skill development, learning rules and strategies, and student-athlete improvement.
  • Travel on team bus to and from all games
  • Uphold and enforce school rules, administrative regulations
  • Attend all games and practices scheduled
  • Establish and maintain a strong working relationship with the entire athletic department & coaching staff
  • Take necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
  • Maintain the highest order of professionalism and always display the highest level of ethical and moral behavior including building positive relationships with athletes, staff, parents, and community. The coach will create a student-centered environment and team culture of success as defined by the national coaching standards
  • Models non-discriminatory practices and sports-like behavior while maintaining appropriate conduct towards students, officials, and spectators
  • Teach sportsmanship, cooperation, work ethic, personal responsibility, and competitiveness to all student-athletes. The coach will also enforce the school and department behavioral and academic expectations of student-athletes
  • Supervise student-athletes before, during, and after practices and contests
  • Be at all practices and games on time and not leave until all student-athletes have left
  • Provides instruction to students of rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of sport
  • Organizes and directs individual and small group practice activities/exercises
  • Assesses students' skills, monitors students during competition and practice
  • Provides determining game strategy
  • Work with Athletic Trainer to follow all established procedures in the event of an injury
  • Supervises and maintains the press box/equipment room in orderly condition and assumes responsibility for its security
  • Participates in special activities to include Senior Night, End of Season Celebration, award nights
  • Models nondiscriminatory practices in all activities

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Previous Soccer coaching experience preferred
  • Reasoning Ability
  • Ability to communicate with high school students, parents, coaches, and OES staff

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High ethical and professional standards
  • A thorough knowledge of soccer, skill development, and coaching techniques
  • The presence and desire to be a role model for student-athletes on and off the field
  • A commitment to the importance of academic excellence and achievement for all student-athletes in the entire program
  • A proficient effective communicator skilled in organization & time management
  • Demonstrated ability to be a positive leader within the high school program and develop and instruct young athletes both physically and emotionally
  • Ability to work with students and colleagues from diverse backgrounds
  • Demonstrates critical thinking skills in problem solving and decision-making
  • Asks questions and seeks assistance if needed
  • Demonstrates confidentiality regarding information pertaining to all students, faculty, and staff.
  • Demonstrates ability to work in a team environment.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • First Aid Card
  • Fingerprinting/Background Criminal Check
  • Completion of All OES Employment forms & OSAA Coaching Requirements
