Oregon College of Oriental Medicine is Hiring a Clinical Faculty (Part-time) Near Portland, OR

Part-time Clinical Faculty

OCOM is a nonprofit graduate medical school in Portland, Oregon. Our mission is to transform health care by

specialized graduate degrees; operating two teaching clinics, providing affordable care for patients and hands-on

We are seeking part-time clinical faculty to join our team.
Salary range for clinical supervision: $27.54-33/hour, depending on experience and education.

Salary range for Integrative Clinical Theater: $51.50/hour.

Spring quarter is April 1 - June 22, 2024.

Clinic Trainee shift is Wednesday from 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM.

Integrative Clinical Theater is Monday from 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM.

Clinic Internship can be either 8:15 AM-1:00 PM on Tuesday or 2:15 PM – 7:00 PM on Friday.

Position Summary
The below constitutes the job requirements for part time clinical faculty at Oregon College of Oriental Medicine.
The faculty member shall be prepared professionally and academically to perform duties that include clinical
instruction and other duties specified below. Teaching assignments will be made by the Dean of Graduate Studies
and Associate Dean of Clinical Education. The faculty is charged with helping the student learn through appropriate
teaching methods, assessing the knowledge, skills, and abilities/attitudes (practical, clinical) the student has learned,
and reporting that learning to the student, the Associate Dean of Clinical Education, and members of the college’s
Assessment Committee.

The position requires that the faculty member participate in department and other faculty meetings and contribute
to curriculum development.

The faculty member shall be prepared to supervise 1-8 clinical offerings each academic year as assigned by the
Associate Dean of Clinical Education.

Possible clinical assignments include:
 Clinical Internship: supervise students as they perform history, physical examination, diagnosis and treatment of

patients.
 Integrative Clinic Theater class: treat patients using integrative medicine in a classroom setting while providing

instruction to student observers. Provide instruction and lecture on treatment planning.
 Clinic Trainee: closely supervise teams of students as they perform history, physical examination, diagnosis and

treatment of patients.

Essential Functions
P rovide clinical instruction as assigned.
 P rovide students with regular clinical assessment, including mid-term and end-of-term clinical evaluations.
 P rovide student assessment data as directed by the Associate Dean of Clinical Education.
Perform all tasks required by the faculty teaching agreement.
Collaborate with the deans in curriculum review and development.
A ttend department and other mandated meetings.
 Participate in faculty evaluation and other assessment activities.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Academically and professionally prepared for assigned clinical duties as directed.
 Ability to work as a team member in a collaborative environment
 A ttention to detail
 Able to multitask
 Working knowledge of basic computer software to include but not be limited to the Microsoft Office Suite and

Google Docs.
 S trong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Preferred
Able to effectively instruct students in principles of integrative medicine

Education and Experience
Terminal degree in acupuncture, acupuncture and Oriental/Chinese medicine (DAOM, DACHM, or Chinese

equivalent) preferred; dual degree (MD, DO, ND, DC) required for Integrative clinical theater
 An Oregon license to practice acupuncture or eligible for such a license, and a minimum of five years of full-

time clinical experience and no sanctions against a license in any field in any state.
 Successful NCCAOM Examination in herbal medicine or equivalent required.
 Minimum five year’s licensure with no sanctions against any license.
 Current CPR/First Aid/AED certification
 Experience with insurance billing (i.e., ICD-10, E&M and CPT coding)
Experience performing orthopedic and neurological exams
