Oregon City School District 62 is Hiring a Fiscal Services Supervisor Near Oregon, OR

Position Summary

The Fiscal Services Supervisor assists the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in the management of the fiscal department through supervision of department staff and through supporting the development and dissemination of fiscal procedures to promote customer service and fiscal efficiencies for the District. This position assists with the control of daily accounting transactions, which include accounts receivable, accounts payable, and purchasing, as well as managing contracts, bids, and agreements.


Essential Functions

  • Supervise and evaluate fiscal services staff, under the direction of the CFO.
  • Provide mentorship and leadership for fiscal staff through collaboration and regular communication, including problem-solving accounting processes.
  • Develop staff skills through incorporation of best practices, legislative changes, etc.
  • Collaborate with the CFO and Accounting Coordinator to develop improvements in the financial management of the District.
  • Develop, monitor, evaluate, and update fiscal department operating procedures and manuals.
  • Assist with developing and disseminating fiscal procedures to promote compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Participate in the annual audit process.
  • Purchase in accordance with all applicable laws, Local Contract Review Board rules, and Board policy to ensure the District receives maximum dividends for dollars spent.
  • Coordinate purchases for the District, including the writing of specifications, advertising of bids, and writing of contracts and other agreements involving purchases of materials and services by the District.
  • Manage the issuance of purchasing cards.
  • Coordinate, and at times deliver, necessary training for building and department staff, as updates and improvements are implemented.
  • Provide administrative support to the CFO and key personnel upon request in matters pertaining to district policy, rule, and collective bargaining.
  • Maintain cooperative relationships with staff and the public.
  • Maintain confidentiality of School District transactions.

General

  • Maintain regular attendance and punctuality.
  • Work effectively with and respond to people from diverse cultures or backgrounds.
  • Follow all District policies, Federal and State laws, work procedures, and reasonable requests by proper authority.
  • Maintain the integrity of confidential information relating to students, staff, and District patrons.
  • Confer regularly with immediate supervisor.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to exercise independent judgment while adhering to prescribed policies and procedures and perform the essential functions of the position with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective professional relationships and work in partnership with supervisors, other staff, students, and the general public.
  • Ability to demonstrate professionalism in dress, speech and manner appropriate to the assignment and work setting.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Successful completion of criminal history records check, as required by law.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting/finance or business administration with emphasis in related field.
  • Two years of fiscal services experience, preferably in governmental fund accounting.
  • Successful supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of laws, rules, procedures and policies related to expenditure and accounting for school funds.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual Spanish/English.
  • Masters degree in Business.
  • CPA or CPA candidate.
  • Experience with grant management.
  • Strong lens on educational equity and serving the needs of diverse students.

This position is 1.0 FTE; 240 days per year.
