Position Summary:

Orbital Therapeutics is seeking a skilled research associate with experience in cell culture to join the Analytical Development team to support testing of novel RNA therapeutics. The successful candidate will help execute and analyze cell-based assays and assist in developing and onboarding new biochemical and cell-based assays.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in the development and performing of cell-based assays.
• Conduct cell counts and other assays (e.g. mycoplasma testing) as needed to ensure the quality of cell preparation and associated aseptic techniques in addition to maintenance of tissue culture facilities.
• Work with media and buffer preparation, culture initiation, propagation, and cryopreservation of cells, including primary human cells from commercial and/or patient sources.
• Adherence to quality control schedules for ensuring consistency of cell culture materials.
• Conduct transfection and downstream analysis of immortalized and primary cells.
• Learn and carry out new processes for cell isolation.
• Assist with developing new cell-based and biochemical assays.
• Work with other teams to onboard and improve assays.
• Document and communicate results to team members.

Qualifications:

• B.S. or M.S. in cell biology or related discipline.
• Must have 2 years of experience (industry or academia).
• Hands-on experience with cell culture and transfection is required.
• Experience with biochemical assays such as ELISA, Western blot, etc.
• Experience with luminescence and fluorescence-based cell assays including troubleshooting and optimizing assays.
• Experience with multiple cell lines is a plus.
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team.
• Detail-oriented in assay execution and documentation.

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $35.00 - $60.00 per hour
